Football

Post by Robin! » 04 Jul 2007, 00:28

Hey Peeps,

We played footy once before which must have been ages ago now. I put up a post a while back that had plenty interest but it didn't materialise.

So names down for another game! Say Sunday 5 August 10:00am?

:D

Had the same thought just the other day Robin. Would be happy to take part on the 5th. And if you only get 5 or 6 people I could try and put together an opposition of similar standard.

Might be best to avoid summer holidays but probably best to set a date asap. When I organised last year's I got up to 10 or so players and then they gradually called off as the date approached. If you track down that thread (Jan 2006) you can see who was up for it last time.

16th or 30th September would be good for me.

Right Mr Robin I reckon you've got a team there - yourself, Porty, PortyConvert, Bob, Zargonian. How about picking a date and I'll try to get some opposition. If you suddenly get 10 Porty people interested we can make it an all Porty affair.

The 16th and 30th September are best for me.

Robin, I'm still up for this. I've recently started playing on a Wednesday afternoon at Sighthill and really enjoy it. I'm not sure my game is improving but it sure beats going to the gym.

I would be interested in playing a regular game at Portobello if anyone else is interested. Maybe a Sunday morning? Nothing too serious, just a turn up and play basis. How about it?

Excellent, that makes 3 of us so far. We just need to find another 7 players - shouldn't be too difficult.

Bumped into Bob on Sunday and I think we ought to make a footballing date. Robin! hope you don't feel i'm stepping on your toes - you're welcome to take it on if you want!

We're going for Sunday 16th September at 11 (or 10.30 if needbe) at the Pitz in Portobello.

Robin!, Porty, PortyConvert, Bob, Zargonian have all declared their availability - any more? It would be good to have it all Portobello but I should be able to put together an opposition if necessary.

Confirm or express an interest here or by PM.

I have a card to book a pitch although I don't think a booking is necessary as it's pretty quiet Sunday morning.

Just to clarify that we're looking to have a one-off on Sunday 16th at the moment rather than pursuing Bob's idea of organising something on a regular basis.

Right - Robin! and I are going to do our best to make this happen. Sunday 16th September 11am at Portie Pitz.

I will try to get an opposition together so we just need 5 Portie people. Robin and Bob have already shown an interest so that's just 3 more.

Porty, PortyConvert, Zargonian - can you make it?

Anyone else? As I have said before it would be better if it could be all Portie.

Hear from you soon!!

Now chums I'm off on holiday for a week and when I return I expect there to be at least 3 more people wanting to play football on the 16th. Please don't disappoint me.

After extensive training and trials the following Talk Porty football team has been selected:

Robin!
Robin! Senior!
Zargonian
Gilo
Bob
Jamesie

They will be up against the so far undefeated (2 games in 3 years) VSO local group team.

If anyone else fancies a game, drop a line here. I'm sure some people will welcome the chance to have a rest during the game.

Congregate (it being a Sunday) outside the changing rooms at the Portie Pitz on Sunday at 10.50am.

I think the vso team will be playing in blue so Talk Porty can wear white (Porty T-shirts or others).
