Kitcheners' late night opening?

Post by Jamesie » 04 Jul 2007, 13:47

Was back in Porty last night and noticed Kitcheners was open as I drove past around 8pm. Is this a regular occurrence these days? Always thought there may be a market for somewhere like that as an evening venue - at least for the weekends.

They've got a sandwich board out near the road now, advertising wine and "free nibbles". If the weather can stay away from rain for more than an hour, I might be tempted.....

If you mean my ears, yes. I was standing impatiently in the queue of two at the time!! It may be 9 though: according to Plug it's the law about outdoor boozing.

I wish them the world of good for it. Although I'd be tempted to save the late night opening for Thursday - Saturday as I think there is less of a market in Porty during the week than in the city centre. Time will tell!

I'm slightly disappointed at the Sunday opening - if you hang around outside Kitcheners at 3-4pm on a Saturday the bread price suddenly crashes and you can pick up giant round loaves, the size of car wheels at half their original price. I even got given a free one a few weeks ago.
I fear with Sunday opening this bread bonanza may cease.

We had a grand time, thanks; felt very continental, enjoying our wine and nibbles whilst watching the world go by! We were very happy with the service, it cost less than we thought it might, and it included a dish of cheese and salami, so I recommend it. Then we went home for the dog and strolled along the beach, stopping in at friends' for more wine and nibbles (chocolate brownies...mmm...). It was a great evening and we have vowed to repeat it monthly assuming we can get a bratsitter.
Enjoy yours!

Went for a bottle of Pinot Grigio at Kitcheners this early evening.

Very nice it was too. Both the wine and the nibbles. We got three dips with tortilla chips and olives and brushetta. Nice freebies!

Saw Froglette and Emily walking past and then Bob and Emily :D

Sounds nice. Dalriada were doing a rose Pinot Grigio a while back which was lovely.
