Labour pains

Post by arachnid » 27 Jul 2007, 21:07

following on from the " if time ran backwards thread", thought I't'd be good to compare who had the best and worst baby producing experiences!!!!
Well I got off pretty lightly! My firstborn arrived in just two and a half hours!!! Very brave too, no gas and air!!!! ( was too busy pushing!!!
My second offspring was also a wee bit quicker in one and half hours!!!
Maybe it was because I'm only about 5ft tall, they didn't have far to travel before being born!!!
Did any of you girls do better?? ( or worse!!)
Why be scared????

Blimey, I just can't even comprehend it being that quick - I wasn't even at the crawling around the lounge on all fours stage, boking in a bucket, after two and a half hours.

Funny story to lighten the tone (not funny at the time though), but on the same theme. We had just got into the hospital after labouring for about 18 hours at home. I was desperate for some pain relief. Got the gas and air, couldn't let go of thing, it was amazing. After a bit - Mr PB, while reading about some celeb's boob job in a Heat magazine that was lying around in the anti room we were stuck in, said "Dont you think you should go easy on that dear?"

This is the same man who when being quizzed at customs in Melbourne was asked "Do you have a criminal record?" to which he replied "I didn't think you still needed one".

 No, right the first time.

I'm sure, if his mother's still around, she would confirm he was a right pain back then too.

Mrs. R. went into labour with the second Rathbonette just as Coronation Street was about to start. We got to the hospital just as Coronation Street was about to end and it was all over, in the corridor, before the next commercial break.

The first Rathbonette, however, went on and on and on

Like Foxy, I reckon I got off lightly with a four hour labour. Bloody sore though. I took every drug on offer and then begged for more.
I was quite detached from events at the end. I had a nice wee private room as Dan was one of the last babies born down at the Eastern General and business was winding down.
It'll be 10 years ago in a week or so.

Time flies.....

First time I was in Hospital for 7 weeks pre delivery. Thankfully I wasn't in labour for the same length of time (would that be a record? ). Eventually she was born a month prematurely albeit she wasn't quite cooked or ready to come out so was therefore facing the wrong way and had to be pulled out with salad servers. My husband proceeded to negotiate a price for a burglar alarm with the surgeon as he stitched me up to the neck.

Second time I only managed two weeks inpatient time before he too was dragged out at 36 weeks but a hefty 7lb 5oz. Dread to think how big he would have been if we'd left him any longer :? .

Funnily enough, I got a dog the next time I felt broody :D
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

I was watching the episode of ER where George saves the boy from the flooded storm drain when my waters broke; the episode was called "Hell and High Water"...

Labour was so hellish I decided not to bother with all that for my second child . 12 1/2 hours of "Hell" followed the "High Water". And no George Clooney anywhere in sight.
