Brown vs Cameron at PMQs

Post by Dadaist » 25 Jul 2007, 16:36

Last tussle of the season was a clear Brown victory.

The guy the Tories picked to out-spin Blair is all soundbite and no substance, whereas Brown is actually turning out to be something of a relief as he calmly lists fact after fact in the face of .... not much, really.

What did the Tories manage? A small bleat about the EU constitution was all.

Cameron had OG'd even before he made it to the house by not being here when it rained, which Brown artistically managed to needle him with by the slightest of passing insults "which I have witnessed personally" - understated and well done.

I'm no Labour or Brown fan, but you have to say he beat Cameron and not just on points.

I never heard it but I don't doubt you. I would give Brown a 10 out of !0 for the start he's made but as Blair proved;it is a long road.

Cameron is cocentrating on matters rwandan , leave him be in his downward spiral.

It's funny, Blair was unpopular for representing spin, yet there was anxiety about Brown for *not* being about spin.

Sure, this might be the Brown honeymoon but who have the Tories got?

Brown capped it by saying the wheels were falling off the Tory bicycle and it was a good job they had a car following!

He smacked the Tories about today and didn't even look like he was trying.

I disagreed with him on a fair few points, but you can't not respect a live performance like that.

I just heard that obviously pre-prepared and scripted line on the radio and in fact what he said was "the wheels are going off the Tory bicycle........" so you could say that he blew the delivery of his punch line.
I'd agree that he blew Cameron away though.

So how are the newbies doing in comparison?

Salmond and Brown I mean.

Dunno. To their previous incumbents I'd guess they were both doing better cos they are new.

Compared to each other? Dunno.

Its about even I reckon but Salmond might just shade it in the chutzpah stakes.

Brown had a rocky first PMQ's but this week to his credit paid a generous tribute to the SNP Government's co-operation over the Glasgow Airport incident.

Its early days but so far its Eck by a beavers snout.

I'm particularly impressed by his cozying up to the Irish. And his courting of the Welsh. Its like he is trying to forge a union between these countries.

Thought Lawrence's letter in the SOS last sunday summed 'eck up.
