I'm a tennis fan and I went to Wimbledon for the first time last year, I loved it. However, I'm beginning to get totally fed up with the BBC's overkill of the tournament. The repeats, the camaraderie that the rain seems to engender. (It reminds me of one of my trips to father and son camp, which I loathed and would have loathed if it had been nice weather. The cub leader and his wife thought it was totally brilliant that an almighty 36 hour storm befell us camping novices. They just stood there smiking and gloating)
I'm getting worn down by the locker room jokes and "teasing" of each other of the formerly great players. Not to mention the complete dominance of the BBC TV channels. The fluffed up hope for Tim Henman and the supposed nail-biting tension of one of his matches
Don't get me wrong, Henman is a God in terms of British tennis but now its like watching Clyde FC get a wildcard entry into the Champions League and then all the commentators pretend that they actually have a chance.
John Motson has ruined the FA Cup for the BBC, what with his seemingly infinite knowledge on totally useless, irrelevant facts. And the ability to relate ANYTHING to 1966.
As for Wimbledon? The only saving grace is Mcenroe he appears to be the only commentator that lives in the present..
Question to McEnroe “ John, can Andy Murray win Wimbledon?”
McEnroe “ Sure! if Andy can get himself into the Top 5 then all he need do after that is break one of Federers legs”
