TASTE of Edinburgh

Bearcub and me went to "Taste of Edinburgh" today at the Meadows.

It was GREAT :D :D :D :D

Loads of restuarants with which you had to pay with "crowns" £10 = 20 crowns.

Plus loads of free tasters in both food and wine. :D (and other alcoholic beverages)

You could have easily gone in on the basic £12 ticket and had loads of freebies.

We ate at Martin Wishart, Skippers, First Coast, The Tower, Iggs.

Great afternoon out :D

PS we came home with a bottle of Arran Whisky (a 5 year old which is very easy drinking!!) and a bottle of "Oleifera"Extra Vigin Rapeseed Oil (made in the borders)

An absolutely fabby day and the sun shone all afternoon, its on tomorrow too, go if you can... :D

There's been a lot of press coverage about this guy and his restaurant recently.

We had a competition in work one day. We had a look at the "images" and all had to guess what picture 13 was of.

It kept us all amused. One of his specialities is Crispy Pig Ears????

He's havin' a laugh!

We went to Taste yesterday as well. It was absolutely fantastic - highly recommended.

From the current issue of Scottish Licensed Trade News - 28 June 2007

The inaugural Taste of Edinburgh food and drink festival has been hailed a success after drawing more than 20,000 foodies to the meadows earlier this month.

Part of the channel 4's Taste series the capital leg was as a four day celebration of Scotland's finest food, drink and produce.

Chefs from 15 Edinburgh restaurants including Restaurant Martin Wishart, Skippers, The Tower and David Bann worked in the kitchens set up on the Meadows during the 4 day event allowing visitors to sample their dishes.

Event Director, James Cooke-Priest said next years event could be even bigger, revealing that more than 85% of this year's exhibitors have already signed up for Taste of Edinburgh 2008.

"We always believed that Edinburgh had the right ingredients for a Taste Festival and are delighted at the extent to which the people of Edinburgh supported and enjoyed it" he said.

"Taste is the proof that Scotland has an abundance of amazing local produce and culinary talent".
