Well, we did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My cousin Joyce and I did it in 7hrs 50mins, my daughter Julie and my friends daughter Joanne, who flew up from Wales to take part did 6hrs 50mins and our other friend was 9hrs 40 mins. The weather on Saturday was awful, torrential rain, wind and to make matters worse it was very cold, it didn't ease up all day, it was much the same when we arrived at the meadows at approx 10pm but it didn't appear to have dampened the spirit of the 10000 walkers of which 1000 were men, wearing their bras !!
There was lots of entertainment, Scottish dancing, swing band etc, then 11pm we had speeches from various people, sharing their experiences, some had survived breast cancer, others talked about family and friends they had lost to the disease and the lady who started the moonwalk 10 years ago Nina Barough asked everyone to join hands for a minutes silence, I dont think at that point there was a dry eye in the marquee, it was a very emotional moment and it made you feel very proud and privileged to be taking part in this very worthy cause. We then started the "warm up" to rock and roll music and that lifted our spirits and we danced our way to the start line, it was still pouring rain!!!!, we crossed the start line just after midnight and we were off on our 26.2mile marathon. We received lots of support en route many people came out to cheer us on and then surprise surprise it stopped raining about 2.30am and it turned into a very pleasant mild morning so it was off with with the waterproofs but I wasn't brave enough to take my t shirt off it wasn't that warm!!!! I think the pain kicked in around the 20 mile mark!!! and to make matter worse the last 5 miles were uphill all the way, but Joyce and I kept each other going and once again we were encouraged and surprised by the number of people waiting to cheer us on at the finishing line and I cant tell you how I felt when I crossed that line. We received our medal, had our photograph taken and then had a well deserved coffee. The Edinburgh Moonwalk raised £1.5million pounds last year and there were 8000 walkers, this year with over 10000 walkers they estimate £2.5million and all the money goes to the breast cancer charity in Scotland. I have raised to date £600 and I still have some donations to come in, so thank you all for your support it is very much appreciated.

Moonwalk 2007 - Thought I'd share this uplifting email
Well done, Jean! Whoever you are.
I must admit that last year, I found the lead up to actually getting to walk a nightmare.
4 hours of hanging about in a tent with Grant Stott, Lorraine Kelly et al was distressing to say the least and I know that many, many people found the hand holding, energy channeling stuff absolutely cringey.
It's a long and tiring enough night without all that to contend with. I just wanted to turn up and walk.
It is for a very worthy cause though and an amazing amount of money was raised last year and again this year.
