Virgin Media. Cables help needed.

Post by tribade » 10 Jun 2007, 21:21

Hi, has anyone here cut & reconnected VM (Telewest) cables? I know you can get the bits & DIY, but I'm feart to do it in case I make a mess of it. VM will charge me £75.00, as they say it's relocating the equipment ... any help/advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Oh just go for it! There's always sellotape if you cut the wrong bit......
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

It's still just that black coax cable, yeah? If so it's no different really from the "old fashioned" coax aerial cables, just better shielding and connectors. So if you know what to do there...

Anyway, here's a nice guide: http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/fconn.htm

We did it with father in laws Sky . Now that was fairly easy. Splint and link to another room
But I believe VM uses fibre optic cables which is a bit trickier, we haven't dare try yet, as the tv and pc broadband come in on the 1 cable in our front room we'd like to move them so's we dont get glare from window , (have to keep curtains closed  )
If its successful let us know
