I'm sure Mr Arachnid will be on his feet very quickly. I had a male friend who had the same op and the advice was to get up and about immediately. Best wishes Mr A.

Thanks for all your good wishes for " the ol' spidey man"!!!
He got his op a week past Wednesday evening and was home again on the Sunday afternoon!! Think they were desperate for his bed!!
He was up and walking the day after the op., and is now going for short walks round our cul de sac!! In a couple of months time his other hip is going to get replaced too, so will have to start all over again!!!
I'm just thinking of all the wonderful things that he's going to be able to do for me once he's fit again!!!
Why be scared????

A freind of the family had both hips replaced around a year ago and now she parties with the best of the oldies ... never off the dance-floor and she's near 70!

Your " the ol' spidey man" could be doing that too when he's done. You'll have to run to stop him! :D

Best of luck to him.

Glad Mr A back home for festive season.

Well Mr. Arachnid has had his other hip replaced. This time at the Golden Jubilee N.H.S. hospital in Glasgow. And he's well impressed!! On arrival we were taken straight to his one bed room, we were hardly there fifteen minutes when doctors, nurses, physio and the anaethetist were in taking all sorts of tests that were needed.
Had his first op. in the E.R.I., where he waited all day for his room and he said that he didn't get half of the tests that were done in the Jubilee.
And the car park's free!!!
Anyway, op went well and he's now on the road to recovery again!!
I will make the most of the next few nights of getting the bed to myself!!!

My experience of having my hip done at the ERI was nothing short of brilliant. Great consultations, top care and attention and outstanding end result. 8)

I really wish I could say the same for my elderly father's treatment at ERI for emergency broken hip and leg: both times his treatment was appalling. He now gets practically hysterical if any mention is made of the place. I still break out in a sweat if I go anywhere near it. I am not joking - I only wish I were.

I also have no love for the ERI and blame them for my mothers death.
For them not to notice the blood clot that killed her when her arm was so black and to have put a woman of 50 in a geriatric ward!!! And even though her arm was broken (in plaster) they made her take a bath everyday (ward policy).
Also mr BM's mother died there very suddenly.
No if I take ill in the Edinburgh area I don't want to go there.
