SNP gonna stop de trams :

Some choice quotes from the article about the SNP threatening to not fund the trams :
MacAskill said: "We have always been open-minded and willing to look at that. We just think building a tunnel under a live runway is bonkers."
Edinburgh Tory group leader Iain Whyte said more buses could not be the answer for Edinburgh because Princes Street was already full of them. "It's a mile-long bus station," he said.
Edinburgh's Labour leader, Ewan Aitken, today reacted furiously and claimed the SNP had no mandate to cancel the schemes because the parties in favour of trams had won more votes. He said: "We warned the electorate of the destructive tendencies of the SNP. Within a week, they wish to destroy the future of the Capital."

I love this new age of consensus politics!

Good. £700m and counting always seemed a ridiculous cost for one tram line to replace one bus route, a line that will only benefit a very small percentage of the Edinburgh electorate. And it's probably why Labour lost control of the council....

The first quote is about EARL, and whilst I think there should be an Airport link I also think the SNP is right to look into less costly and disruptive ways of providing it.
