Never again- til next time

Post by SoupDragon » 28 Apr 2007, 20:28

I'm talking about helping people move house.
We fell into the "its only round the corner wont need a van" trap.

BIL and sisIL are moving into a new build adapted for the disabled flat, she's in a wheelchair, needs oxygen at night, he's in remission from non Hodgekins lymphoma.
BUT its just along the road

So LAST Saturday we all pitched in, pals with trailers, us in the portakabin on wheels, a Clanger or two, and started the flitting.
Prob 1 was sisIL had been ill so NO packing had been done.
Prob 2 its a wee flat they're moving out of so we were tripping over each other
Prob 3 the settee had to come out the window. still got in Volvo tho'
But we got the bulky stuff moved

then sisIL whos (also diabetic ) started to go a bit out of it.
Blood glucose over 25 so reduce the stress we called it a day
( to walk into stress here as sons pal jumped)

Sunday Sis IL really bad so taken into Infirmary so all move on hold

Monday I go back to help move more, everyone back at work 'cept BIL whos waiting on carpets ,phone etc. his wife still in hospital
ditto Tues
ditto Wed
and rest of week
so today we went back
BIL still not got phone or carpets SisIL still in High Dependency

but we got mucked in
Mr Soupy and brother off with full volvo to new house
Had to leave a wee table and boxes outside front door
meanwhile I'm washing down kitchen cabinets

Knock at door

upstairs neighbour

asking how we're doing?
offer of cuppa?

NO

he wants to rant about the stuff on the pavement
I'm going to get it uplifted and trashed says he

I try to be reasonable pointing out we are flitting, the sisIL in in hospital

but no he rants on and on pointing fingers and getting vert irate saying that I'm responsible /

I'm only here to help says I
whats the problem?
its all going away soon
rant swear rant swear says he
 thinks I

He made the schools thread look like a quiet , reasonable, exchange of views.

Stopped in at Kost Koncious on the way home to get lager for mr soupy. I'm having a rather nice white burgundy

Mother in ;aw moves in a month or so.
Do you think they need someone to make soup on the space station?

knowing your luck, by the time you got to the space station they would be moving to a new one and want a hand with all the cabling

it's just round the other side of the planet

I have suspected for a while that the space station is really a volvo driven over one of Duddingston Rd speed bumps just a little too fast

I'll get Scotty to do the cabling re wire. isnt he up there now. along with Gene Roddenbury
and Stephen Hawkings managed freefall ( the brief history one not Porty one )
I feel 'the long johns of time' is a book crying out to be written

Thank you Foxy
wine lovely
guilt ridden as I forgot BabyDragon along in Leith. but she's now getting lift from b/f dad
