There's a sizeable crew of regulars who comment on EN articles which relate to matters Portobello but aren't on our argument and complaint obsessed forum - do we know who any of them are?
I don't have a clue who any of them are (except when real names of people I know are used), but would like to pay homage to 3 of the names which have cropped up, as they refer to cool things :
"Repton" - 1980s computer game
"Hexagon Sun" - this is the name of Boards Of Canada's studio
"alex paterson" - the bald guy in The Orb
Does anyone else have any favourites?

Have you ever managed to locate this place Dada? Various fruitless treks through the Pentlands have only ended in frustration for me. I'm starting to think it doesn't exist.Dadaist wrote: "Hexagon Sun" - this is the name of Boards Of Canada's studio

Nope. How can one take them seriously? They don't use their real names for Pete's sake!
They obviously have far too much time on their hands. Probably work for Scottish Equitable or some similar institution...err, allegedly.

Yes, but apparently I'm not allowed to tell you since I have just had my post removed. I know that two local people who are banned from using this discussion forum vent their spleen on the EN comments section. They are both instantly recognisable from their writing 'style'.Dadaist wrote:There's a sizeable crew of regulars who comment on EN articles which relate to matters Portobello but aren't on our argument and complaint obsessed forum - do we know who any of them are?
(let's see if this gets removed as well)

Well, perhaps think that people often do have good reason for using anonymous accounts and it's their prerogative to do so. As our posting guidelines say - respect the privacy of others. You might well believe that a number of accounts of people there were accounts X, Y and Z here... and they were banned here and therefore that should devalue their contributions there. But it's all just personal guesswork in the end... Of course, which could be wrong.
I mean, throw "Moi" into the mix and what do you end up with?
And back to the original post - why not invite the ENers to this topic?

Particularly if they are making libelous comments.wangi wrote:Well, perhaps think that people often do have good reason for using anonymous accounts
I don't believe that the fact they are banned here devalues what they write elsewhere. I'm happy to deal with the moderators of the EN comments section on a case by case basis. You might well believe that a number of accounts of people there were accounts X, Y and Z here... and they were banned here and therefore that should devalue their contributions there.
