Are we going to have different branding?

Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Post by Dadaist » 27 Feb 2007, 12:50

For those of you who are fortunate enough to not have seen "Independence Day" (the one where everyone cheers when the Whitehouse gets zapped) this thread title is a quote from that piece of entertainment. I really hate that line because, as far as my English teacher hammered into me, using the word "day" twice in one sentence just ain't right.

Let's celebrate forum independence. Oh flower of Porty, when will we see etc

I'd like to thank the technical heads for doing the internet misdirection things which ensure people are pointed at the right page.

I'd also like to thank me for coming up with the name "talkporty" - that was a toughie - and me for inspiring the cruel jibe at the end of an otherwise positive Evening News article about Radio Free Porty where Lawrence Marshall forever tarred us as gossipers, tittlers and tattlers.

The porty.org.uk general forum is dead. Long live talkporty->G&TT !!

G&TT was Lawrence in an article about RFP. Now that I *did* come up with.

I remember when the Spice Girls got famous, an Israeli singer said they stole one of her tunes. You may have come up with "talkporty" on the mods forum, but that's not a public forum. Not only did I independently come up with "talkporty" by myself, I gave it tinseltown glam and spin. So you see honey, the Oscar is mine. Sorry, but that's showbiz.

I'm blaming quite a few folk for us ending up with talkporty.org  but to answer Porty's question regarding 'rebranding' ; Yes, we plan to have a new logo to accompany our new name, so let us know of any ideas you may have. We also plan to have a brand new index page which should make us easier to find when anyone searches for the site. All these things are, however, in the early stages, so won't be happening overnight.

I'd also like to add my grateful thanks to Wangi for doing all the hard graft ensuring a smooth transition from our old site to the new one.

Nah, Lawrence came up with the phrase Gossip and Tittle Tattle and he sought to derogatise (I made that one up) the forum

I think I turned the insult on its head and made the suggestion that we renamed the forum along those lines. The evidence must be somewhere :?:

Let the record show that I have no current claim on G&TT other than being the origin of the RFP article where the unacronymized/expanded term first appeared.
