Hooray! An outbreak of Purple Love is about to hit Kitchenerâ€™s Deli & the whole of Portobello High Street just as Valentineâ€™s Day turns everywhere else all red and saucy.

Visitors to Kitchenerâ€™s Deli will be able to sample loads of things, talk to local producers and make their own 'Declaration of Independents' by picking up a new edition of the â€˜Little Book of Loveâ€™ (while stocks last) which is written each year especially for Purple Love Week.

â€œThis fun event really does serve to highlight the serious issue of how we can keep our high streets buzzing and weâ€™re really excited to be taking part in Purple Love Week 2007. The event was created by a regional food producer from Dorset, Olives Et Al, who have made a real commitment to support independent shops. Theyâ€™ve done their bit and weâ€™re doing ours so do come and support us and help us win the award for Most Purple Independent 2007!â€

Just one addition to info I sent yesterday â€“ there is a competition for kids to draw/paint a picture of any shop in Porty â€“ entries to the deli by Friday 17th & winner gets a big Easter egg!

I do have a rather fetching purple hat , given at Xmas, but I 'm not wearing it out in this weather. it'll get ruined! And I'd get spladooshed!

Giving your age away. As...well...old. But don't worry - Marya said something similar to me when i was wearing my rather fetching lilac rainjacket at the school gates recently.

Are all the people involved in this thing old? Or is it only the women?

I'm sorry. I have been sitting at this laptop screen since 10 am and have only left it twice to perform necessary functions. I think I'm verging on hysteria. And haven't even checked into POL until now.

I've got purple Docs as well.
Doc Martens that is, cant speak for the GPs in the High Street

So how many shops are in this Purple People Eatery thingy/
Is it just food shops/
Are Findlays doing purple sausages- saw they had some Six Nations sausages
