Hi all

Can anyone recommend a good local cattery? Particularly one suited to an indoor cat?

Try Catsitters. Having tried a cattery as well as Alison, she is miles better. She loves cats and means they can stay at home without the stress of the move!

Thanks for the link, I had stumbled upon that website, but I wasn't sure if she covered Portobello area. Am just gathering information just now, we won't be needing a cattery/catsitter for a while, but just want to be prepared. Any idea how much a catsitter costs? From surfing the net it seems that a cattery costs roughly Â£6 a day.

Last time I used Catsitters, I believe it was 6 or 7 pounds a visit. I have 2 cats so dont know if its a little bit more cause of that.

I took my cats to a Cattery once and (no offence to the Cattery) they came back nervous wrecks after the experience.

Thanks for that Ed. I think I will start by looking at catteries that have been inspected by FAB charity or if that doesn't prove to be successful, will just have to start having to do the groundwork. Am not sure about a catsitter only because my cat loves company and at least if she is in a cattery then she will hear noise and see people rather than just 1 or 2 visits a day for a short period of time. Lot to think about when you have adopted a moggie isn't there!

we are very lucky n have a couple of freinds who are retired n live on the west coast . they have a free holiday and our 3 cats are spoiled rotten. i also do have to saythe edinburgh dog and cat home board cats and dogs , we both volenteer there ,i work on cats and having worked there 2 years now including 2 xmas and 2 new years days, the cats are well looked after , must admit its fab when 1 of your favs comes back in for their hols . hope that has given you some food for thought , cheers
