Christmas Gift Ideas

What with Christmas just around the corner, I thought it would be a good idea to pool ideas for christmas gifts for our loved ones. Mainly for the benefit of myself, as I can never quite find the right gift for Mrs Hatstand.

It was her birthday last week, and I bought her a lovely handbag, feeling rather proud of myself for choosing the item, going into the ladies changing rooms in the shop to check it looked nice 'on', and thence purchasing said goods. It was returned to the shop on saturday morning. Oh well.

Still, I've got a good idea for Mrs H's Christmas present - practical and stylish, I think it'll really set the living room off, as well as providing a talking point for guests at the coffeee mornings, tupperware parties and partner-swapping evenings we'll be holding over the festive season. In fact, it should be particularly handy for the latter.

This is it - good eh? I reckon she'll like it.

Anyway, any further ideas please. I think this could potentially be a valuable resource for us all.

Most important tip I can give you,.......................... make sure you keep all receipts

You were almost spladooshed by me this morning, by the way (standing at the bustop with Sandra and Bearcub - I was the one in spandex trousers). I will get you next time though.

Was on Easter Island back in mid September and picked up a few of these moai - wooden ones though, as the breeze block replicas they have which look like that pictured tend to break very easily!

How on earth could I have missed you in your spandex

Were you hiding behind Bearcub ?
You might have to wait a while to catch me again though as I don't normally go that way to work. I was on my way to the collection office at the Post Office but that's another story (and another thread )

Can I get these Easter Island gifts in Edinburgh? Want them for sis's Xmas.
Well I've got to outdo her for last years Cats bottom- hole fridge magnets!
Ok we send each other weird gifts.
Classic was my mum flying down to spend Xmas with Sis in Bristol "Did you pack these yourself?!" asked check in. No says Ma- daughter gave me some stuff-as I'm standing there!!!!
Sis's parcel duly X rayed ,
1 bath plug( ( had seagull floating in full bath)
1 humerous bath toy ( I thought was funny and wont explain any more)
1 seagull towel hanger
1 humerous towel
1 quarter toffee doddles
1 quarter soor plooms
1 Findlay's vaccum packed haggis
and so on

So help me, this year all I've got so far is a cat "babooska" doll

I'd say a gift voucher for Harvey Nics would go down well, then she can chose her own handbag!

And here's another good idea:

As, you can see it's Hair Growing Cat Soap:

Once opened, after a few days it grows 'hair'. It can still be used for washing, and in the end a plastic mouse is found in its centre. It is safe and well-tested.

Features:
10cm
Grows hair within a few days
Plastic mouse in centre

I got one for my auntie the year before last. She seemed really pleased, although I haven't seen her since.

Great site, I've put it on my favourites and will have a proper look later!!!!

Alas the Big Maoi tissue dispensers are sold out.
The cat soap is a great idea, thanks, though Mr Soupy made a comment about hairy soap not being unusual in this house eeew.

It was the look on the security guards faces as they took Sis's parcel to X ray and then asked for explanation of contents! At least they didn't unwrap it ,mind you it was a few years ago, they'd probably call in the bomb squad now.

A bargain Nelson. Should have asked for two, one to play and one to keep locked away for a rainy day.

Was in Finlays this morning and was thinking about a haggis for my sister Xmas and saw they have Asian Haggis! Had to get one. Don't think tshe'll duplicate that.

I love sis very much, but we often buy the same thing for each other or family members
She got me a book for my birthday which I'd got her for Xmas.
I've bought Mum a smoothie maker, guess who bought her one too ( sorting that out ).
So we give each other silly things.
I have a collection of cats bottom fridge magnets she gave me last year so an Asian haggis seems ideal.
Seemingly it's haggis with added spices. Never eaten haggis myself but Sis usually takes some back down to England each visit to the homeland.

Here's another great gift idea. I got most of my family one the other year. They were really pleased.

We still use ours at home. It's a Sumo Fan.

Another year I got one of my brothers an astroturf placemat. Basically a piece of astroturf cut to the size of a place mat. He had got me a book about Scott Walker, and didn't seem that grateful. Family, eh?

I got a lovely Kitcheners "Its a girl thing" hamper from from BC. It has nice choccies, wine, tea, hot choc flakes, cake, lemonade etc. and was in a Kitcheners hessian bag.
