Duddingston Area schools concert in the Town Hall

Post by Maria » 03 Dec 2006, 21:24

Does anyone know when this is taking place? My dozy son (who is playing in this concert) has just told me he 'thinks' it might be tomorrow night, then again he's not sure, 'but it's definitely a Monday night' ](*,)

He is not dozy. Mums just don't understand. We have much more important abstract things to think about than such trivial matters as dates, times, places, names etc

I mean honestly.

Big time. He is the dude. Not many years to go though before he out-matures me. At that point I'll be happy to make him an offer for any and all of his gaming consoles/handhelds.

It is indeed tomorrow night. I just checked with someone whose daughters would have been taking part, except that they are also members of the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra, which is performing at the Usher Hall in aid of Childline, also tomorrow night.

I could take early retirement if you bought all the games as well, especially his Pokemon games. He's got every colour of the rainbow. What a con! I mean, it's the same game every time with the only difference being that you can capture one extra Pokemon which they've just created especially for that version.

Had to go to the meeting Izzie - couldn't really duck out as it was me who had chosen the date - but also managed to catch the last 15 mins of the concert , which was long enough

If this is the same concert that used to be held at duddingston school then you are spot on, 15 minutes was about it. i always enjoyed it tho' especially the parents, and I include myself, one had to sit through aural torture with a genuine feeling of pride. Somehow Mrs Porty seemed to get out of it every year. much like our very own M

Having said that, nothing could compare to the P1 violin "concert" at St Johns. Eleven or so P1's played excruciating "versions2 of Twinkle Twinkle little star and then all 11 played a joint version. Above and beyond the call for mum and/or dad.

Our paths must have crossed way back then too, as we also used to attend the concerts at Duddingston primary. Mr Spoon started playing the viola in p4 (about 14 years ago) then carried on through High School so more concerts, also played for ESSO...more concerts  and lo and behold now he's at Uni sings in a choir and yes, more concerts
Will they ever end :?: :?: :?:

I'll second that, though I'm sure they were older than P1 when Clanger 2 was playing.

And then there was the year of the dysentery outbreak, when the Xmas play went ahead in spite of the poor wee souls just having returned to school, they did well in the circumstances.
