Is it a Nokia? My (thankfully now previous) Nokia ended up down the toilet pan of a Tallinn hotel room a couple of years ago and I thought all was lost, but by dismantling it and leaving it on the heater over night it miraculously worked when put together the next morning! Have faith! :D

I found out they don't work either when they slip out of your hand and fall to the ground, especially the grey ground, and go !!!SMACK!!!

You think they'd tell us these things when they sell them to us ... I mean it's not like they're cheap n nasty! :x

My brother dropped his in...I've forgotten what kind of liquid, and he put it in the oven for two hours to dry it out. It worked, and once hot and dry the phone worked perfectly. Although he did of course burn himself getting it out.

If you have a nice Sony Ericsson with a sensitive touch-screen, don't lean over a pool table with your phone in your pocket - screen facing outwards - because the corner of the pool table might break the screen of your phone. I would imagine.

I finally gave up and retrieved the sim card and put it back in my previous Nokia brick. It seems to be sort of working but some of my numbers have gone awol. I think I can feel a new phone coming on :?
Other thing I discovered this week was - just because you are wearing rubber gloves don't assume the glass bowl full of hot water you are holding won't slip and smash on the floor. It's been a watery week

Reminded me of my father in law, his hearing aid got wet when he was out in the rain last week so he decided of dry it out. Under the grill! He now owns an interesting piece of melted plastic and metal and we're getting used to shouting again.

Under the grill? I remember my gran put her dentures in the microwave to warm them up a little before putting them in her mouth.

Result ... no microwave and a very freaked-out grandmother!!!

Don't try this at home!!!
