Does Maureen's surgery now take place at the Town Hall or is it still at Brunstane Primary?
Re: Maureen Child
Try phoning 529 3268 - seems to be her number at the Council so they'd be able to help??Jamesie wrote:Does Maureen's surgery now take place at the Town Hall or is it still at Brunstane Primary?

Nah, Lawrence is my local councillor. I was only asking as I'd seen that Maureen had been criticised on another website over this move and was wondering whether it was true.Poppy wrote:Try phoning 529 3268 - seems to be her number at the Council so they'd be able to help??Jamesie wrote:Does Maureen's surgery now take place at the Town Hall or is it still at Brunstane Primary?

Maureen Child surgery details
I have to say that I have never been along to a Councillor surgery but manage to keep in regular contact with both Maureen and Lawrence by email, phone and at CC meetings. My impression is that very few people use this facility nowadays and councillors often waste an hour or two each week hanging around waiting to see if anyone is going to turn up. I would suggest that the author of the article you read elsewhere has a personal agenda. My contact details are: Councillor Maureen Child, City Chambers, High Street, Edinburgh EH1 1YJ; phone number 529 3268; e mail maureen.child@edinburgh.gov.uk. My weekly ward consultation session is normally at Portobello Town Hall at 6pm most Mondays (please phone first to check). Or we can arrange an appointment at another time and place. Please do call the office and speak to my personal assistant Linda Reid (529 4306). Linda is able to deal with anything really urgent, with my authority, even when I am otherwise engaged.

In fact, Maureen's Brunstane surgery hasn't operated since February, as announced at the time in her newsletter:
My Wednesday Brunstane Surgery is Cancelled
I guess it's a reflection of how people use phone and e mail much more these days, but I have found that there have been very few people consulting me at my Wednesday evening sessions at Brustane Primary School. Many times the 'jannie' and I have turned up and nobody else.
This seemed like a waste of Council resources to staff the school through janitorial overtime and a waste of my time and energy too. I will still be available at Portobello Town Hall most Mondays at 6pm and available to make appointments at other times and places more convenient to my constituents, if they need to see me face to face.
Please phone 529 3506 for an appointment. This should also allow me, when appropriate, to attend Towerbank Primary School Board or Portobello Amenity Society or East Area Housing Board, all of which also take place on Wednesday evenings. Don't worry, I won't be short of things to do and people to meet in the local area.
