LRT driver spotted throwing plastic bottle into the sea
The other week I was out for a walk and to my amazement I witnessed an LRT bus driver get off his bus and walk to the barrier next to the Rockville and throw an empty plastic bottle into the sea. It was quite disturbing. I mentioned to him that there was a bin just 2 metres away in the hope that he wouldnt do it again. Is anyone else shocked by this blatent disregard for the environment and our lovely porty sea?

I may be an old romantic but that was my first thought. I pictured him standing there in his white socks, slightly short trousers with his i pod on listening to The Police. Thinking, "I want to change my life and maybe this will do it".Marya wrote:Maybe he'd put a message in it?
Two days later when picking up in the Pans he spys a lovely young lady getting on the bus , clutching the very same bottle. She looks at him knowingly and whispers "was it you that threw this flipping bottle into the sea at eastfield". The moderators strike again.
And if you manage to get on, some drivers like to accelerate break, accelerate break, accelerate break whilst you find a seat. It reminds me of the fairground ride with the moving floor.Sandra wrote:LRT drivers take great delight in driving away just as you get to the door of the bus - why do they do this with a big smile on their face. grrr

Suppose they've got to get some enjoyment out of their day

Not only do they throw bottles into the sea but they keep their engines idling at 5am/6am in the very same spot for 5-10 minutes at a time. The low hum the engines make reverberate through the walls of the neighbouring houses and can be very annoying.
There are signs up reminding Drivers not to leave their engines idling (penalty £100) and there have been so many complaints that all drivers have been warned this is now a sackable offence.
Yet again another driver was idling his engine for 5 minutes very early this morning and I always refrain from complaining, as losing your job seems a to be a bit of a harsh penalty just for being a ****** and trying to keep warm on your bus. But compounding the felony by throwing a plastic bottle into the sea - well the next driver idling his engine is toast!

Justice delayed is justice denied.
I like the romantic image of the message in the bottle, but alas it did look empty as it floated off on its environmentally unsound journey. Still it was a nice thought.
I thought about writing to LRT, but I am not sure of the date, I suppose I could write anyway. I do think (maybe naively) that by speaking to him he will think again before he does it again. Esp since I was walking with a buggy in the pouring rain, and he couldnt look me in the eye.
