Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter by Mario Vargas Llosa
18 year old Mario falls for his aunt Julia to episodes of radio soap operas.

Pointless by Jeff Connor
The story of East Stirlingshire FC. The action on and off the pitch is unmissable, unlike their shots at goal.

Stuart, A Life Backwards by Alexander Masters
The story of Stuart Shorter, thief, hostage taker, psycho and street raconteur.

Nominations close next Monday.

I support Aunt Julia (did i suggest it?, or is that an echo from another life even more ordinary?)

I also have a part read copy of

The Hunting Season - Louise Dean

and unopened copies of

Harbor - Lorraine Adams and

Rashomon and Seventeen Other Stories - Ryunosuke Akutagawa

I'm enjoying the first one, in a very very slow manner; I'm looking forward to the second one with a bit of excitement, and I'm wondering what on earth possessed me to get the third one.

And, of course, I'm still looking forward to Geek Love.

I'm now on page 93 of my own suggested read, and plodding slowly. Oh, Life, it does get in the way of doing the important things, doesn't it?

Anyways, up to page 93 but not yet regripped by the keen anticipation of the remainder that I felt when first reading it as a callow youth.

I would just like to point out that the mighty Shire are currently a comfortable 7th in the league having held promotion-chasing Berwick Rangers to a 2-2 draw at the weekend.

If Pointless is selected for the big read in the future we could see if anyone fancies forming a Portobello section of the East Stirlingshire Supporters' Club.

Who nominated it by the way? S/he might be interested in accompanying me to see them at Montrose in 2 weeks' time.

I was that S/he. Unfortunately I'm not prepared to travel over 500 miles to see East Stirling, even at Montrose. If it was the Hibees........ maybe.

..... on the otherhand, a mate of mine has a caravan, called the Tardis, which he keeps at Lunan Bay.....

And I've just finished reading " Labyrinth" by Kate Mosse

Jumps back and forward between two different centuries, so had to keep going back to remind myself what had happened before!! But all in all, a really good read!!
