The Next Quiz
Only a few people took part in last night's quiz ... so I'm forced to draw the conclusion that a midweek quiz won't be as popular as I thought ... or a place-name in Latin quiz (I plead temporary insanity on that one).
Okay ... you decide ... what day/evening do YOU think is best to have the quiz so we can can acheive maximum participation ... cos I'm not doing it for just 3 or 4 again ... that defeats the principle of public involvement ... the floor is yours, guys ... suggestions please ... or if admin and mods prefer ... a plebiscite ... a vote to decide from the participating membership. Let's have some input fom you on its future ... What day do you want the quiz to take place?
thank you

Cleopas...your quizzes are great...and thanks for all the effort you are putting into them
Because there are usually only a couple of people on the forum at any given time, when you said yesterday morning you that you were posting a quiz in the evening, only a few people would have seen that throughout the day.
I suggested previously that (with the mods approval obviously), it would be a good idea to advertise a "quiz evening" in advance to maximise the number of participants. Plus we could get the wine opened etc etc etc
How about trying that?

I see. Another one who's "easy"!

I've got 4 Place-name quizzes in hand ... and another speciality one ... plus ... if Admin and Mods will allow it ... an Adult-Themed place-name Quiz.
And I might be moving house soon, so I'm up to my ears ... but available ... oo-er!!

The only regular night which doesn't suit me is a Thursday. Yes I know this is Thursday and I'm in but we had a medical emergency to deal with so I had to cancel my night out.
It doesn't have to always be the same night each week anyway as long as a few days notice is given.
Whatever, I'm up for future quizzes and thanks in advance to all quiz masters.

Spotted this when I looked at someone else's forum last night ... it's an old thread ... but this was interesting ...
Pop Quiz
1. There are 4 members in McFly, Danny, Dougie, Harry and ????? Name the last person
2. A really good band split at the start of the year because of a singer called Charlie. What is the name of the band?
3. Who is the most famous white rapper at the moment?
4. Who is going out with Cameron Diaz? (for anyone who doesn't know, Cameron is a girl)
5. What is the band called who has triplets?
6. What is Rod Stewart's daughter's band called?
7. Complete this rappers name 50 ....?
8. Who sings American Idiot?
9. What was the name of the boy band who recently split? (clue- think of a colour)
10. Who sings Love Machine?
Interesting because there was only ONE set of answers in the whole thread ...
Answers
1) Who cares ... they're all crap!
2) Busted if I know!
3) Em ... no ... don't tell me ... em ... n ... em ... Oh I cannae remember!
4)SHREK!!!
5) Triplets??
6) Old Fart's Young Girlz?
7) I'll pay 50 cents to destroy all his crappy records.
Dies Videbemus (it's Latin for the band's name)
9) Blue split? Wot are they now? Shades of Blue?
10) I'm not sure if girls should be allowed to do quizzes.
And it stopped ... no real answers or corrections ... but a bit of a laugh ... I like to think we're a bit better than this ...
Hmmm ...
How about Dada hitting us with a Pop Quiz (not too obscure though!) or if he's too busy ... someone else could have a go. Anyone into music?? Between 50s and 90s??
Meanwhile, here 3 music questions for you to ponder over ...
1) Everyone knows Jimmy Olsen is Superman's pal ... but who released a single about him in '93? How many comics does he appear in and when did he meet Lucy Lane for the first time?
2) Mike & the Mechanics were a spin-off from which Supergroup of the '70s n '80s? Who discovered them and which ancient civilsation were they modelled on?
3) Musical Youth had a hit with Pass the Dutchie ... explain "the Dutchie" in relation to the metaphysical analysis of the element Niobium in laboratory conditions.
Have fun!

1. Spin Doctors released "Jimmy Olsen's Blues" from the album "Pocket full of Kryptonite" in 1993.
I don't know how many comics Jimmy Olsen appears in. I must confess, I am not an avid Superman fan. However, I do know that Lucy Lane was introduced into the Superman comic strip as a potential girlfriend for Jimmy Olsen in 1959.
2. Mike Rutherford, the bass guitarist from Genesis formed Mike and the Mechanics. I don't know who discovered them or which ancient civilisation they were modelled on.
Talking about Genesis, I went to L'Attache last Saturday to listen to Ray Wilson. Excellent.
3.This cover version "Pass the Dutchie" by Musical Youth was originally to be called "Pass the Kutchie" but their manager suggested changing the lyrics to encourage more airplay on radio and MTV.
"Pass the Kouchie" was originally released in 1982 by Reggae group "The Mighty Diamonds."
A "kutchie" is a marijuana pipe and a "dutchie" is a Jamaican cooking pot.
I know nothing about metaphysical analysis of the element Niobium in laboratory conditions. To be honest I thought Niobium is used to make magnets!

No honestly ... seriously ... it wasn't. Believe me ... I know these things.
If you'd like a quiz just for you ... that's fine ... I can help ... but you wouldn't go on the Scoreboard ... unless you had your own private scoreboard ... and got all the points to yourself ... but if that was the case .... you should really seek help.
I wish I didn't overthink sometimes.

Get ready ... get set ......... G... otta just tell you
I'll be posting up the quiz just before 7pm ... then going to watch Dr Who finale again (Yes again ... I'm a big fan!) ... then I'll be back on at 7.50pm ... to start scoring ... so please be patient ...
I'll look to the times the answer was given in case of multiple correct answers and obviously, whoever was first gets the point ... though if two or more all come in at the same time, further points will be awarded.
Tell you what ... if you can tell me exactly WHERE the more exotic place-names are located on the planet ... you'll get an extra point. I know some British places are duplicated in the colonies (USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, S Africa, the Caribbean and lots of other places) ... but it's worth a try if you manage to find the right one!
Good luck... and ENJOY it! No point doing it if you're not having fun!
