Well done you two!! :salute:

I know how much hard work and effort you both put in to this and how many long hours you've spent since January pounding the pavements in all weathers - (not to mention all that body pump stuff!!)

Congratulations and respect

Well done to both of you, "the girls done good" :D

And for those of you who might think they just spent the night in a pub somewhere (the thought did cross my mind  ), here's S & ecm coming along the prom at about 6.45 this morning, heading towards their last 4 miles....

Yes, Poppy - all for Breast Cancer.

We were informed at the pre walk shindig (which ran for 3 hours   ) prior to the Walk starting that the specific Scottish charities which will benefit from the funds raised last night as being the Maggie's Centres and The Breast Cancer Institute, representatives from each came and spoke to the crowd.
Also addressing the masses were Lorraine Kelly (which was faaaantaaaasticccc!! and reallly, really, really good), Prince Charles (pre-recorded message), Grant Stott and some sidekick, Lesley Hinds and the founder of the Walk the Walk organisation, Nina Barough.

Nina made us all (8,000 or so) hold hands, raise held hands into the air and stay completely silent for a minute in order to channel energy

or something?

I had to then hug the nearest stranger.

This was enough to get me itching to run the 26.2 miles, never mind walk them.

I found it all very tough. It was too slow to start with. It took an age to get out of the Moonwalk City (a pink tent with barriers round it in the Meadows)

Like this.....

Image
and then our first few miles involved taking the "high road" up to Dunsapie Loch. There was no lighting provided and the walkers were so jammed together at this point it was difficult to get any kind of speed up for fear of stumbling over kerbs and bushes.

Further along the route, I just got more and more tired, cold, hungry and sore. It was heartbreaking to pass our respective road ends here in Porty and then have to keep on going for another 5 miles.

I wanted my Mummy by that point. I called her to get her to come and give me a wave from her window as we passed through Meadowbank on the way back to the Meadows. She gave Sandra and I a big wave.
Mum's are great, aren't they?.

Oh, and by the way, where were you Poppy? Your windows were open and I thought I saw the sun reflecting off your telescopic, wide angle lens but, no you .

Anyway, it was an experience and Sandra and I have had fun along the way getting into shape for it all. Not sure if we'll do it again or not.

Never say never.

I did get up about 5, but was too tired to stay awake. Even to see you and Sandra!! Should have got you to phone me and I could have been your Portobello mummy!

Anyway, well done the two of you.

Charming!

Awww wish you'd managed to stay awake to be our portobello mummy!

It was definitely an achievement and it was great training for it but not sure I'd do it again. Thanks for all the encouragement along the way folks!

Thanks Teddygirl - yes definitely keep up the classes! - I love them :)

Im actually going to a special launch class tomorrow evening - half hour bodycombat, half hour bodyattack, half hour bodypump, half hour bodybalance - typical that the two I haven't tried are first and last! so may as well attempt them all :)

Well done to Sandra and ecm!!! What a long walk! But all for a good cause. Thanks for sending the photos, Sandra - they're great. Sounds like you both need to soak your feet in a nice foot spa for a few weeks!

Well done! :D

Belated congratulations to you both.

Hope your blisters have receded.

Have you got lots of hard skin between your toes? And any advice on getting rid of it? Just wondered.

Thank you kindly Poppy.

But I think that you have misunderstood me. I wasn't asking for me. I was asking on behalf of a friend. Honest.

Well, if you say so. But it still applies - if you dry betwen your toes you won't end up like your "friend".

Just to let you all know, I've decided not to take part in the moonwalk 2007, too much like hard work! Glad I managed to walk 26.2 miles but once is enough!

The info if anyone is interested:-

The MoonWalk Edinburgh is back!
Saturday 16th June 2007
Join now and help us to raise £2 million for breast cancer causes in Scotland...
The second MoonWalk Edinburgh is back and open for entries on Friday 24th November 2006! This time even more people can join us as we have spaces for 10,000 intrepid walkers to don their decorated bras and their trainers for a midnight marathon or half-marathon to help raise money and awareness for vital breast cancer causes in Scotland.
In 2006 you have raised a staggering £1.6 million which will be granted to charities in Scotland and make a real difference to those people with cancer now…
To be a part of this unique and exciting challenge get your entries in to us quickly as places will fill fast!
There are three ways you can now enter:
1. Pick up an entry form from Friday 24th November from various locations in Scotland - click here to find out where you can get yours!
2. Online entries will be available from www.walkthewalk.org from Monday 27th November
3. Download an entry form from our website from Monday 27th November and post it to us with your entry fee.
If you were ahead of the game and entered the MoonWalk Edinburgh through The Daily Telegraph on the 28th October, provided the postman delivered your voucher, we can confirm that you have a place, so you do not need to enter again!
For more information, answers to any questions and to find out what happened last year, visit our website www.walkthewalk.org
Thank you for uniting with us against breast cancer.

not sure Izzie, part of the walk last year was round arthurs seat which might be quite difficult pushing a wheelchair, there should be a contact email on the website and you could ask. It is an amazing night though.
