Yes, Poppy - all for Breast Cancer.
We were informed at the pre walk shindig (which ran for 3 hours

) prior to the Walk starting that the specific Scottish charities which will benefit from the funds raised last night as being the Maggie's Centres and The Breast Cancer Institute, representatives from each came and spoke to the crowd.
Also addressing the masses were Lorraine Kelly (which was faaaantaaaasticccc!! and reallly, really, really good), Prince Charles (pre-recorded message), Grant Stott and some sidekick, Lesley Hinds and the founder of the Walk the Walk organisation, Nina Barough.
Nina made us all (8,000 or so) hold hands, raise held hands into the air and stay completely silent for a minute in order to channel energy
or something?
I had to then hug the nearest stranger.
This was enough to get me itching to run the 26.2 miles, never mind walk them.
I found it all very tough. It was too slow to start with. It took an age to get out of the Moonwalk City (a pink tent with barriers round it in the Meadows)
Like this.....

and then our first few miles involved taking the "high road" up to Dunsapie Loch. There was no lighting provided and the walkers were so jammed together at this point it was difficult to get any kind of speed up for fear of stumbling over kerbs and bushes.
Further along the route, I just got more and more tired, cold, hungry and sore. It was heartbreaking to pass our respective road ends here in Porty and then have to keep on going for another 5 miles.
I wanted my Mummy by that point. I called her to get her to come and give me a wave from her window as we passed through Meadowbank on the way back to the Meadows. She gave Sandra and I a big wave.
Mum's are great, aren't they?.
Oh, and by the way, where were you Poppy? Your windows were open and I thought I saw the sun reflecting off your telescopic, wide angle lens but, no you .
Anyway, it was an experience and Sandra and I have had fun along the way getting into shape for it all. Not sure if we'll do it again or not.
Never say never.
