Tell us about your current avatar.
I found mine the other day - it's from a movie made by music combo "Daft Punk" but features a motif I adore - masked figures - mainly as a homage to a band I like called Boards Of Canada who used it on one of their eps, but also as some artistic thingy about the web and facelessness or something.
Also, tell us who has your favourite avi (prolly the infamous Lime Kitty!!) and, if you don't have one - go get one or at least tell us why you don't "do" graphics.
Also, if your avatar is still that one you had last halloween and you've never bothered to change it - hey, it's all good. Just sort it out ok?

I haven't got one cause I haven't the first clue what to do. I liked your handshake, though it had a certain irony considering some of the posts! The faceless one is good. It's dynamic, energising and mildly intimidating (remind you of anyone?!)

It can be a bit tricky getting it sorted first time, but soon you'll be up there with the pros.
On another forum I go to, they even let you have shockwave avatars which animate and react to mouse clicks - I've seen some great work.
Anyways - there is a helpful Q&A on how to get an avatar here :
http://porty.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=787
Good luck - looking forward to seeing what you decide on - it's a fun choice and lets you create something individual and also change over time.

well, my avatar is one of the characters from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas absolutely the GREATEST PS2 game ever.
I haven't actually played the game all the way through (I'm cr*p at most games) so haven't encountered the character (or found out what his name is). I got a couple of saved games from a colleague at work's 10 year old son

so that all 3 of the games cities are opened up - including all the forests, sea mountains and countryside in between- its a huge world and this means that I can just zoom around on a fast motorbike exploring, stopping to work out at the gym (just like real life really

) and having some fast food if I get "virtually" hungry. There are also race tracks, pool halls and casinos and dance halls - hours of enjoyment for big kids of all ages. And the best thing of all - it was conceived, designed and built by Rockstar Games in Leith.

It took so long to get any avatar up at all that I haven't thought about it since. I suspect I could get quite carried away updating pics and spending f-a-r to much time on the computer.. Will test that theory soon : )

My avatar is a picture of one of my favourite bears, Sweetheart. She is a 1930's bear and was my Valentines day present this year. She's a bit tatty, a bit like myself.

It is my family crest, used it initially when I was protobellosite, and got used to it.
<a href="

Still like it but I am now looking for a fancier version.
P.S.
On the family history, the translations were done by some friends and may not be 100% accurate, If anyone can help with them, I would be very pleased.

Well done, Dada, for jogging me on the promises I keep making to myself. Been meaning to join Photobucket for ages. I did try a while ago but the site was being updated so that was that until today........I've only got one image uploaded so far - Marya and I raising our glasses at New Year. And if she's not very careful I'll post it full size. (A bottle of Rioja would help prevent that happening................

In my defence...........my machine is an old lady, she doesn't like avatar sites and tends to crash whenever I go into one. Anyway, I like my Pumpkin I think it sums up my personality perfectly.

Mine's a picture of my Web surfing dude. It's a small figurine that my younger son gave me for father's day and sits next to my PC.

Mine is a reference to my name in the real world and an in-joke between me, Epykat and Sunnyporty

I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.

PC versions though, don't got no console.

Thanks for that - I've played those other 2 as well - San Andreas is the one tho - the freeroaming aspect (over 30 mins of real time to get across the map) and the variety of things to do just make it a great gaming experience.

It's almost overwhelmingly immersive. Imagine if it were multi-player!
Do we need a GTA thread?

Me. Circa 1988. Stunning haircut. Put it up when I was criticising Bob's avatar (ironically of course).
My favourite avatar is PoP's punchy puss.

Mine is, of course, Harpo Marx with a brush stuck on his chin.
I love the Marx Bros. I can watch their movies time and time again with the proviso that I can skip through the songs that aren't sung by the brothers.
I still miss my original avatar (below) which was put out to pasture due to the forum guidelines re avatar size.
Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo etc.

Played GTAIII for the second time not long ago, seemed to get through it quicker this time!!( must be improving, which is a miracle!! :lol) Played and enjoyed " vice city too.San Andreas is going to have to wait as, like you Dadaist,I play on my P.C. Waiting very patiently for the new PS3 to come out so that I can play all those great games on it!!! So at the moment I tend to be playing older games like " mafia" or "tomb raider". Anything to keep the old mind active!!!
A games thread would be a great idea!!

Why be scared????

My avatar is recognisable of course. Bart is probably a good motif for anyone who is an anarchist at heart ... like most 8 year old kids ... which I try to be at all times. Peter Pan ain't got nut'n' on me!
I tried to get a good one of Homer the Great, but couldn't find a decent one I liked of the Great Yellow Genius.
Help, anyone?

I like to think my avatar captures my philosophical side.
If you can keep your head when all around are losing theirs, it probably means you've underestimated the gravity of the situation.
