Mother of the bride UPDATE

Post by sunnyporty » 11 May 2006, 20:00

Well I have it AT LAST  I made myt daughter come with me just to prove I was NOT that fussy and even she admitted that there was not a lot around .
We went to a place called THE BARN near Carlisle it was being manned by to ''sofisticated ladies'' with glasses on the end of their noses and bobbed grey hair. There happened to be another woman there with her daughter doing the same as me.... browsing thriught the chiffon and fushia pink net curtains that were trying to pass for outfits. Anyway I made a comment to this other woman about how hard it was to find something and she agreed,I said I would be more at ease if I could wear a nice T shirt and a pair of jeans.. oh how we both laughed... Then grey bobby butted in by saying ''You can't be serious'' DOH!!! emmm ( I said )NO obviously not and continued fingering the chiffon and lace beige suit that I happened to have stumbled across :(
Anyway I went to the dressing room and tried on various THINGS and then my daughter came and said there was nothing there for me and we were leaving...A bit hasty I thought but we left . When we got in the car I said that I thought it was unlike her to leave like that and she said that the grey bobby had been showing her outfits while I was in the dressing room and she had said '' No she would'nt wear anyof those tto which the reply came '' Yes I see what you mean dear you can tell she's not used to dressing up''
Well if the car had not been moving the grey bespectacled bob would have ...well I am sure you can imagine how offended I was  Well to make a long story even longer I went back to the first shop I had tried and got my semi gothic outfit .Its lovely and with the shoes i'm about 6ft 5in and I've to walk down the isle with my future son in law's mother who is about 4ft in her highest shoes so we are going to look a treat. :D

I'll try it again later - or you could use your imagination - the bride is gorgeous and the groom is almost gorgeous and they're cutting a cake..... does that help??

I remember how rough your hand felt on mine on my wedding day
And the tears cried on my shoulder I couldn't turn away
Well so much has happened to me that I don't understand
All I can think of is being five years old following behind you at the
beach tracing your footprints in the sand

Trying to walk like a man

By Our Lady Of The Roses we lived in the shadow of the elms
I remember ma draggin' me and my sister up the street to the church whenever she heard those wedding bells
Well would they ever look so happy again the handsome groom and his bride
As they stepped into that long black limousine for their mystery ride
Well tonight you step away from me and alone at the alter I stand
And as I watch my bride coming down the aisle

I pray for the strength to walk like a man

Well now the years have gone and I've grown from that seed you've sown
But I didn't think there'd be so many steps I'd have to learn on my own
Well I was young and I didn't know what to do
When I saw your best steps stolen away from you
Now I'll do what I can

I'll walk like a man

And I'll keep on walkin'

If only I'd known the words of that on the day I'd have done it at the krakatoke
