Houston, We have a problem....
Houston, We have a problem....
Or.... the gentle art of understatement.
Having just got back from the Eye Clinic after having the last of the grit removed from my right eyeball, I have had the opportunity to reflect on the socially acceptable fib.
Firstly, despite the bus company's adverts saying there is a bus to the hospital every fifteen minutes, I waited thirty five.
My appointment was for 9:20 a.m. "The Doctor will see you now" came at five past 11.
"This might sting a little" was the biggest understatement of the day, closely followed by "This procedure might cause you a little discomfort."
Now in full grumpy old man mode I began to detect gross understatement everywhere, from Charles Clark on foreign prisoners to the optimistic gardener on UK Bright Ideas.
Nominations, please, for your favourite understatement of the day.

I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.
