I've been to Zante (but def. not Laganas!) and Cephalonia (Fiskardo area) too Thumper. If you liked them then we're on the same wavelength.
Rhodes is nice and Kos is OK. The North East of Corfu (aka Kensington-on-Sea) was pretty with excellent tavernas, but my most favourite places of all are the West of Crete, around Chania - particulary recommend Georgioupolis - and the Mani penninsula on the Peloponnese; Stoupa is great though not in August when it is full to overflowing with other tourists. We've visited both Stoupa (last time July 2005) and Georgioupolis several times and never tire of them.

having been a travel agent for 15 years and been to Greece over 20 times, I can suggest Elounda in Crete still very Greek not at all touristy, wonderful resort, Kos Toen in Kos is wonderful very cosmopolitan not many British lager louts but there is 2 bar streets, can get noisy, also Kefalos in Kos is stunning gorgeous beaches!! and Sidari in Corfu was pretty nice, let me know if you need any info about somewhere as I may have been
Quick - stop telling too many people about it then!!!nads wrote:having been a travel agent for 15 years and been to Greece over 20 times, I can suggest Elounda in Crete still very Greek not at all touristy, wonderful resort, Kos Toen in Kos is wonderful very cosmopolitan not many British lager louts but there is 2 bar streets, can get noisy, also Kefalos in Kos is stunning gorgeous beaches!! and Sidari in Corfu was pretty nice, let me know if you need any info about somewhere as I may have been
I saw some really lovely places when in Rhodes - so quiet and unspoilt with maybe a wee old man sitting outside a cafe.
(I saw Faliraki as well)
Elounda is only about 4 miles from Aghios Nikolias but I have to say I prefer Elounda, it's basically a square around a harbour the locals sit outside in the square at night drinking and eating and joining in with the tourists, its the harbour where you would leave from to go to the island of Spinalonga, the lepers colony, there is a lovley beach and the mountains sit right at the back I have to say the last time I was there there were a couple of disco bars but the doors shut at midnight so it is still quiet, the seafood is the best that I have tasted I just love the atmosphere of sitting in the square at night eating seafood overlooking the harbour!, as I said Ag Nik is only a wee bit away if you want a busier night out and you can catch the ferry there over to Santorini for the day.

Have you got a gallery? If not, do post more sunny snaps cos it's the next best thing to being somewhere nice![]()
(even if it is a bit of torture when you're stuck in an office)
No gallery I'm afraid and I'm stuck in a stuffy classroom today.
Fingers crossed someone else can give us a wee reminder of where we could be instead.......
