All hail to Portly!!
I have to report that our man Porty managed to last a whole game of rugby this evening - even nearly scored a try! At his age too!
Although one does have to question his sartorial judgement - one short blue sock and a long red one
And he's younger than you, Limping Ali!!

How impressive. Go, Porty, indeed.
Who was he playing for and where?

He was playing for PHS FP RFC over 35s (+ VAT!!!) - a 'charity' game against and at Musselburgh RFC to raise funds for Jonny Mitchell of North Berwick RFC who broke his neck playing rugby last year.
They gave his step-dad a cheque for £1700 tonight with more to come.

That's quite a sum to have raised.
I saw Jonny Mitchell being interviewed a couple of times on tele last year. He seems a very determined young guy.
He was full of humour and positive thinking.
Very humbling.
Were you cheering Porty and crew on?

Yup, I was there. Mr Poppy/El Pres/Plug was a touch judge (

) but came on for the last couple of minutes - even kicked the ball!! Gosh!!
(he's giving me the full story as I type but as it invloves 'I could have scored a try' yet again I'm not listening!!)
PS He also asked " Is E**** still up at this time of night"!!

Ha! He's so bossy.
Yes, I'm still up, tending to the sick and the needy.
I might even stay up til midnight. I'm mad, you know.
There's half a bottle of red wine left as well.
I take my hat off to Porty, Plug and all the other old codgers who played tonight.

I spoke to Jonni's mum for a while, christ people are amazing. You would think she'd be broken, not at all, she was so positive. She said he would loved to have been there.
£1700 was an amazing result particularly when you consider that it was a match between two clubs that Jonni had little or no connection with and most of the "players" were twice his age. The musselburgh stand off. aged 55, who quite possibly has had a hip replacement, paid £50 to be allowed to play for a minute, he actually played for 3. I don't know your name but well done to you sir.
Thanks for not mentioning my 3 knock-ons Poopy.

Ha! Even I know what one of them is.
Or, am I thinking of knock-offs?

My research leads me to believe that it means he dropped the ball instead of passing it! Or something.

Well done that man. In your honour I have changed my avatar.
Also in response to this:
Is there a rule about double avatar ID?
