Neighbours - plane crash

Post by Dadaist » 20 Jan 2006, 13:09

A great storyline from this brilliant show.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neighbours

I have been enjoying watching all the people I love to hate, love, or hate (respectively) bob up from the wreckage - wishing some that failed to surface had, and some that hadn't drowned had.

I won't spoil anything -> if you want to know what happens check out the wikipedia Neighbours page as it will fill you in.

Ace storyline. How come the BBC haven't put a helpline at the end of these shows - as if there are people who haven't been affected by being on a bombed 1940s pleasure flight and washed up on a beach with the opportunity to survive on the street under an assumed name before a tearful homecoming some episodes later!

Before my sister and I were born, my parents flew to Zambia in a Dakota.

A little known or rarely spoken of fact:

In the entire history of jet airlines, life jackets have never been used in an emergency. Simply because when the plane hits water it will explode into tiny pieces. Lifejackets are useless. So all those demos are a complete waste of time.

My mate Ali loves telling air crew this statistic and you ought to see how shirty they get, like someone back at training school has conned them.

I remember reading the inquest documents into the Manchester airport tragedy (when a plane went on fire on the runway) - the people who got out didn't go down the central walkway to get to the exits - rather they climbed over the seats - and presumably other people.

I'd definitely want a life jacket on an oil rig though, and a ship.

works fine here. interesting article.

something i didn't know is that the lockerbie bombing isn't the only attack the Libyans are paying up for - the article details another flight which exploded in the same way that the Libyan regime is paying relatives for as well.

They were definitely standing on other people. I remember the accounts quite vividly and wondering what I would have done. If you queued politely you died!

If Harold Bishop is on your plane, get off the plane.

Harold Bishop in denial. Connor and Dylan living rough, catching wild rabbits. I didn't even feel bad turning off CBeebies and making neo-dadaist watch Neighbours! (and she didn't notice the channel had changed)

Sounds as good as the one where Jim Robinson did magic mushrooms.

Who was the hippy guy that got Helen Daniels on the ganja? He made her special tea (I think) for her glaucoma.

Anne Haddy on hash tea?! Good god.

Don't think I can remember that one (my neighbours watching years were 86-91ish).

If only, Poppy, if only...

I'm 37, but on a good day I reckon I don't look a day over 46.

JP.
