The programme "Storymakers" is a regular part of the BBC's "CBeebies" channel. This post concerns what I regard as flaws in its concept.
"Storymakers" features a rotating presenter (that is, the task of presentation is not down to one person but a team - with a literary-sounding name like Byron Wordsworth or Milton Wordsworth - as opposed to a single presenter who actually rotates) and a resident team of small alien puppets called Jelly and Jackson.
Every midnight, once the legitimate library users have finished their business, these interlopers supposedly "come out" and make stories by throwing an item into a special duct in a computer and reciting an incantation ("imagine ... imagine ... imagine a story!!")
I feel that there are some glaring inaccuracies here :
1. The library closes at 5pm and the storymakers come out at midnight. This is depicted by fast-moving hands on the library clock. The problem - when do the cleaners come in?
2. The two resident muppet presenters, plus whichever Wordsworth is in charge of todays storymaking, weave a magic spell and use magic powers as they construct a story. The problem - why do these activities not set off the burglar alarm which must be fitted in this local authority lending library?
I have passed these complaints on to the BBC Director General. His department have told me that they will "make sure this goes to the right place" which is comforting in some small way, but I am still troubled by these flaws and sought to share them with you.
CBeebies - "Storymakers"
Anytime I've seen Milton and Co it's always featured a story about Blue Cow.

These stories and that cow are so indescribably disturbing I am left incapable of rational thought and reason for anything up to an hour after each episode.
I have, therefore, never been in a position to consider the type of questions you have posed above.
Maybe there are no answers to your questions? Maybe it's just a magic kind of thing.
Sorry.

Re: CBeebies - "Storymakers"
Because magic things just HAPPEN, they don't move about and since movement detectors are generally used in alarm systems (I do have this on good authorityDadaist wrote:2. Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!
