I had "The Young Ones" by Cliff Richard and the Shadows and some American geezer I've never heard of doing the "Peppermint Twist"!
The Epykittens had Wham and Kylie Minogue, and - just to make ecm jealous - Mr E had Stupid Cupid by........Connie Francis

No 1 in the UK as I spluttered into the world, bleary eyed and whinging ("Hang on - wasn't that this morning?" - Wife of Priest) was, appropriately, What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. And in the US of A, it was Tighten Up by Archie Bell & The Drells. Groovemungous!
