northern lights tonight

My mate says that if it's clear tonight (which it increasingly looks like it isn't), look north in the night sky and you might catch the northern lights.

here's the science bit

There's been very high solar flare / magnetic storm activity recently.

So anyway, if you see it let us know. If you don't, well, enjoy the night sky anyway.

I went and had a look but I think what I saw was the glory of Tranent reflected off the clouds!

Just received an e-mail from a friend who lives in Kinross saying that she and her family saw all these strange lights dancing and flying about the night sky last night ( wednesday). So they must've got " the northern lights" last night!!!
