Star Wars - what's it about?

I think I saw the first couple of films and enjoyed the SFX but I've no idea what it was about. In order that I do not make a faux pas next time I'm at a dinner party with Dadaist, could someone please explain to me (in 13 words or less) what the whole thing is about? I need a bluffer's guide to Star Wars, but keep it simple.

Episode IV is about terrorists who blow up a government building and get away with it. Their leader is a religious fundamentalist.
