The Big Question

Post by CatzVP » 16 May 2005, 19:54

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

May sound a dumb question, but will become relevant in a week or two, but has anyone got, a more mature computer ie a Pentium II 450 mhz or older, or are most PoLers running Pentium III or faster systems (or faster AMD systems).

Im afraid (even though I love them) Macs dont count  (as I said, all will become relevant soon (it's also the reason Ive been quiet for a few days  ))

The Poll is to save me a load of time

Please fill in it as close to your knowledge as possible....Thank Ya!

Assuming you are running XP, right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and click on Properties. Your system info should be there.

You assumed right, Bob. Found 3.08 ghz after Celeron CPU or summat. Still none the wiser, though!

Thanks for your help, Bob. I thought we had a Pent II but apparently we're running on an AMD processor. That's when I remembered our old one was pretty buggered (bet the filter doesn't allow that) and our techie friend gave us bits of his old one mixed with bits of ours so we no longer have a clue what we've got.

What are you up to, Catz? :-k

I wouldn't worry Foxy - PCs are obsolete before they even leave the factory floor aren't they?
I'm also in a group of 2, but I'm really chuffed to learn that there's another Mac aficionado out there :salute:

Marya, I would trade my PC tomorrow for a Mac without a thought, unfortunately their parts are just a bit too expensive, I think most people would, even though we have PC's doesnt mean we dont love Macs. We dont hate you Mac people, were just a bit jealous :P

Aw! Thanks for that Catz. I get a fair bit of stick from certain quarters y'know for my fondness for Macs. Porty, Dadaist, Wangi and Bob , are you paying heed?

Anyway back to the main event - are you going to reveal all now Catz?

Pah. It's not the MHz, it's the MIPS.

And anyway, aren't AMDs double pumped so that 1GHz is not the equivalent of 1 GHz on an Intel? Admittedly you don't need 10 hairdryers to cool 'em though.

Marya is right though - Mac users need a combination of drug therapy and/or counselling. I am positive it is curable, even if you will always be a "recovering Mac user" as opposed to kidding on you're cured.
