So

I suppose spring is here then.

where can i buy an old fashioned push along mower without any fancy bits like a roller and stuff - just the traction engine wheels and a big blade, only needs a good sweat to get it going?

Haven't seen one in my (limited) review of options to date?

hey i was going to put a big sword-swinging emoticon chap in here but he's not there??

Nope.... Just self assembly, two screws and one wheel missing, and no Allan key.

Hi Mr Magnolia - have you got your old fashioned push along mower yet?
If not - we have a nearly new one in the shed, only been used a few times, its going free to a good home. If you would like it, let me know - you're very welcome to come along and collect whenever it suits you.

Jings Lizzie - you just about 6 hrs too late...

I gave B&Q Ã‚Â£29.98 this morning and they gave me a lawnmower.

And I've put it together and trashed the box it came in.

many thanks for the kind offer. maybe someone else needs one for their own patch though?

Still if there is anyone else out there who could use an old fashioned lawnmower (it's a great way to exercise, almost as good as a visit to the gym - and it costs nothing

If I had known how many offers of free pushmepullyou lawnmowers I would get, I would have

A: not bought one

B: wondered why no one who has one seems to want to keep them!

I had a lovely 20mins or so a week ago when spring was here cutting the grass at magnolia mansions. I think I will have to do it again soon. Woo Hoooooooooooo!!!

I'll let you know when I get sick of it.

Well how's the lawnmowing going Mr M? I was delighted today to take delivery of a brown garden refuse bin. I mowed the lawn and now find that the bin is completely full and I've to wait a fortnight before the next collection.

I have to cut our grass every 3 days in the Summer - a fortnightly collection is really pretty inadequate

Marya - we're the other end of the scale. Only a small low-maint front garden and a tiny yard at the back. It would take us all year to fill a brown-bin which is the same size as our main bin!

We've got little space to store it, so asking the council to make better use of all that horrid plastic and find it another home

ah but Marya - you're supposed to compost your cuttings yourself in a Ã‚Â£5 composter and put branches and stuff in the brown bins. It all saves Council tax you know, as it diverts from land fill and the attendant tax. Mind you it sounds like you would need a huge composter!

Meanwhile I am delighted to report that mrs m has had her shot at the mowing and declares herslf delighted too. So it will take twice as long for me to get bored with it. Hurrah.

My 'lawn' (there's more moss than grass!) is hardly massive Wangi and hopefully the next mowing will result in fewer cuttings but it seems daft to treat July the same as Dec. in terms of the number of collections. I also appreciate your situation. Gemini was complaining about having to store another bin too. There must be a more sensible way to approach this

Does anyone want to offload their brown bin? The council overlooked the fact that we are 2 properties tucked away in Lee Cres and just left the one bin.

I was going to phone and get one delivered, but reusing an unwanted one seems so much more gemutlich.

Well I think mine'll be getting uplifted (must remember to get a receipt!), but at the end of Esplanade Terrace the Chinese Takeaway got one - naturally they have no garden and neither has the flat above... so...

Huh. Why is our street always last to get anything eco-friendly? We've been asking for blue bags for paper for two years, but we're still "not scheduled". How much effort does it take to give a few houses some blue bags? And no sign of any brown bins here either. We were two years behind most of Portobello for our wheelie bins too. I think we should pay our council tax at a rate two years behind those of you who get all the things the council provide years before we do!
