Charlie Boy and Cammy

Post by Gemini » 15 Feb 2005, 00:10

With the announcement of the marriage of our Future King to Mrs Parker-Bowls, what's your thoughts?

Should we be thinking about street parties and/or a community whip round for the happy couple?

Yes Lizzie, I am joking!

I think the whole idea of this pair being married is a slap in the face of decency.
Just my personal thoughts on the subject

I really couldn't care less whether they get married or not.

I'm not a big monarchy fan but I've been quite horrified by some of the appallingly inflammatory press coverage of this whole thing. Headlines such as "What would Diana think?" strike me as being in very poor taste as well as being totally irrelevant. It was okay for her to have her affair with James Hewitt, and nobody minded her relationship with Dodi, but God forbid Charles should do the same. They got divorced, and she died. Surely the man is allowed to get on with his life just like anyone else would be, and just like she was? Apparently not.

If everyone's so anti-monarchy these days anyway, why do they care so much about one man's love for a woman who happens to be less pretty and apparently charming than his first wife? The rest of us have a right to be happy. I can't see myself why Charles and Camilla don't.

As for the arguments about it being unacceptable for monarchy, if we're still living in the dark ages then he could just have had Di's head chopped off like Henry VIII...unless we're living in the 21st century, in which case divorce happens, remarriage happens, and why should it matter that much to us?
All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Nicely said BB - all the best to them.

Of course i've got different views about the monarchy (and religion), but that's got nothing to do with two people who just want to be together.

The only thing that might come good out of this is if we all get a day off work to "celebrate".

I agree with you BB. People have affairs, get divorced, remarry, die, go to the loo, have their tea etc, etc, etc every day so I don't see what all the fuss is about. The likelihood of Charles ever being King are slim anway. The Queen will live to be 120 like her mother, she'll never abdicate and by the time she does go he'll be about 85! And as Ed says, maybe we'll get a day off :D
Oh! And at least my husband bought me my own engagement ring and didn't give me his Granny's!! (cheapskate)

I agree with BB - Charles and Diana had divorced. Mr & Mrs P-B divorced and he remarried. I may not have a full understanding of history but Henry VIII divorced and re-married ( he started it all, basically) that's that.
It has no impact on my life.

That avatar is nothing to do with me either! Still, I'm glad someone's doing something. - I don't get much time to play on the PC so looking for an avatar doesn't really happen - but one day...

Maybe they should just take it as an omen and cancel.....
On the other hand, his Mum wasn't going to the wedding anyway so you'd have thought she could have nipped off to Rome and let them get on with it. Sure they would have kept her a doggy bag.

All the stuff being written about Charlie has largely been brought on by himself. If he have had the backbone to marry Camilla in the first place then he could have been a lot happier.

While we are living in an age where divorce etc is more prevalent, sleeping with your mistress from the night before your wedding onwards, hardly smacks of commitment to make a relationship work.

However I hope they get married, live happly ever after and emigrate to a distant corner. :)

That's a difficult one because he mostly acts and behaves like he is not of this planet! 8)

Yes, I believe she did only offer to pay for a finger buffet! I was just thinking - wouldn't it be funny if Prince Rainier's funeral was on Saturday?

I have to accept that The Prince's Trust for small start up businesses has been a brilliant scheme in many ways. It has made a bit difference for many people. 8)
