Traffic Survey??

Post by Mimpty » 15 Mar 2005, 14:31

Did anyone see the person standing holding a clipboard outside Porty's shop this morning? (About 8 30)?
Is there another traffic survey being done?

I saw some-one monitoring traffic outside the Cancer Research shop around 8am. Must have been the same person.

They were still there with their clipboards when I passed about 4pm :)
How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you are?

It looked like a traffic survey but the yellow jackets were not identifiable as any of the major traffic surveying companies. In fact, one or two of them had Edinburgh council jackets on. Maybe the council has taken traffic surveying in house, but having worked in the sector for quite some time in the past (cushiest job I ever had, and about £70 for that today) I am not aware of any local authority doing so.

I asked one of them this evening who they were doing the survey for and he seemed to think it was for the Council. He showed me the front sheet and it said "MVA" on it. Maybe that's the traffic condultants who are acting on behalf of the Council. Anyone know who they are?

Three companies conduct traffic surveys in Scotland, MVA, SkyHigh and Count on Us. The latter is the biggest in terms of Scotland, with other operations throughout the UK and Ireland. Skyhigh is a smaller operator with an office in Balerno.

MVA is a multi national consultancy, for which traffic surveying is only one arm. IIRC MVA conducted the supermarket surveys too. See www.mva.co.uk
