Today I parted with big money to get tickets for the American wrestling tour that's coming to Ingliston in April.

My son has been a fan for a couple of years now and is something of an expert when it comes to this area of entertainment.
He can give forth all manner of statistics and info on the wrestlers of today and yesteryear. I'm sure if we could get him on Junior Mastermind with this as his speciality he'd walk it.

I'm quite looking forward to it although I prefer my men with a bit of body hair and to be not so oiled up.

I expect the night to be a cauldron of homo-erotic tension and mayhem with lots of careful choreography and over-acting to boot.

Just bring it - as they say.

Anyone else out there a fan????

Not a fan myself, but I remember loving it as a kid..used to believe it was for real

True story. About 25 years ago I met Giant Haystacks in Clerk Street. He asked me for directions to the nearest chip shop. Such an athlete!

Even as a kid I realised that wrestling was fake and could never understand why the commentators even bothered to pretend otherwise. I've always been a cynic really.

I used to love the wrestling when I was wee. I used to sit on my Dad's knee and we would watch Mick McManus. Fabby.

I agree the oldies were better...I used to watch Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks in the 70's during 'The World of Sport' when I was a 'very' young kid!! now I couldn't name one!

I too loved the wrestling on a Saturday afternoon when I was wee but I thought it was for real. I liked the tag best,there were two awfully handsome chaps that I always rooted for,think one of them(or both,they might have been brothers) was called Vidor.

Not so keen on the modern day stuff though

. Might have been Blackpool. Saw Paul Shane from Hi-di-Hi there too, on the pier. I have no memories of the wrestling being on when it wasn't raining, so it must have always rained when I was a kid. Maybe I need therapy for that...

I hate wrestling (well WWF) I could not ( and still can not) programme my video recorder

I used to have to set the alarm clock , get up and press the instant record button on the video in the wee small hours so as my son could watch it next day. the cost of the 'must have' merchandise for WWF was outrageously expensive.
