Jay has returned to the roost

Post by Jay » 11 Jan 2005, 11:33

:hello2:

Hello to everyone and a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I was away for Christmas and New Year, and nowhere near an internet outlet, so I was not able to communicate with POL

I got back to work on 5 January, but things have been so busy I've had no time to look in. Just at the moment however, we have an internal crash, so I can't actually do any work, so I took the opportunity to pop in and say 'Hi'! :hello2:

I have not had time to grasp what has been going on in the past three weeks!

So I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and a superb New Year ...

I did email wangi (the only email I had in my e-address book) from my mobile to pass on Festive Greetings to everyone.

I think I may hang on to my robin avatar for a while, as it is winter - although if this weather goes on, I would be better off with a duck!

Btw, if anyone can tell me why this post is on a 1.5 line spacing, and how I can get it back to normal, I would be most grateful!
Jay

Happy New Year to you too Jay. We had wondered where you were and Wangi passed on your message so we knew you were out there!
How did the pressie go down then? Was it worth all the tracking down?
BTW Sorry but haven't a clue why the line spacing is out on your post!

Hey there - happy new year from the Dada clan who are still in winter storage while their new nest gets built. It took a while for some of the twigs we ordered to arrive but work has commenced.

'Stunned' would be more accurate! Especially now I've managed to read the thread about Dada's 500th post !!!!

Many thanks Dada - it is a great honour!
:notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Mind you, I'm not sure which thread to post this on now!

Many thanks to ecm and Marya for enquiring about the video - short answer - it went down a storm
:thumbright:
But I'll post more about it on the 'Yippee - Old Scores' thread, as you were asking about it on there .......

(This is very confusing :? )

Had a lovely break - Christmas in Enfield with my mother and sister, when we all did as little as possible. As a veggie, I am not going to get into the 'How much turkey did you eat' thread - but our home-made nut roast was delicious. And I LIKE Brussel sprouts. I have them all the time, in season, not just Christmas!

The only time we exerted ourselves, once the pre-Christmas efforts were over was to go and see 'Blithe Spirit' with Penelope Keith as Madame Arcati, at the Savoy, followed by our usual meal at our favourite Italian restuarant, on The Strand. Almost had a wee hitch there - we couldn't find it! And we've been going there for years! Turned out it had renamed itself and re-done the exterior and interior decor, because the younger generation have taken over. Thankfully, it hasn't spoilt the food, :thumbleft: or the superb, friendly service, and only put the prices up a wee bit. I can recommend it to anyone looking for a meal in central London - now called 'Stranded' (pun on the fact it's on The Strand and it's a good place to take refuge if you are stranded in the big city! ) - about half-way down on the right hand side as you walk down from the Aldwych ........

But don't try having coffee in the Savoy Hotel, unless you want a heart-attack! Superb coffee, hand-made biscuits - £5 a head! :pale: I suppose it was worth it for the surroundings - the Ladies had piles of linen hand-towels, and a basket to dispose of them in! very Agatha Christie!

Then back here briefly, and straight off to Furness to spend New Year with My Other Half :love7: - mainly in the pub :occasion5: !

So back to reality  - and work .................

........... when our system will let me!

I'll try to read the rest of the threads and see what everyone else's Festivities were like ...........

Thank you Sandra - I hope you had a good festive Season? Did you go down to the bonfire on the beach at Hogmanay - I was going to think of you all when the Bells went, but I had other things on what was left of my mind by then ............ :D :D

Welcome back Jay - was beginning to wonder if you'd disappeared into the ether! Glad you had a good Xmas and New Year. Don't bother trying to do too much work - you'll be far too busy trying to catch up here
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

Thanks Epykat and Lizzie - and I'm keeping the robin for the time being, as it's still winter.
