Portobello Point

What's your views on a landmark development on Portobello beachfront?

I'm thinking something like Platinum Point, an architectural focal point that puts Porty seaside on the map.

Were you thinking of something like the white thing at the bottom of Bath Street - or something more tasteful like a sculpture? I think things like the bronze pigeons at the top of Leith Walk, or in the Lanes in Carlisle where they have a sculpture of otters is nice. Or are we talking something on a bigger scale? How about a life size bronze of Gail's bum for Bob

I think a really striking architectural building would be great down where Seafield's "motor mile" currently sits wasting prime beach-front land...

Platinum Point's something else:

How shallow do you think I am? Obviously I would want a life size bronze of Gail in her entirety, not just her best ass-et.

Seriously, can you think of any other Porty person who has achieved such fame in recent years? I will be meeting with John Stewart, chair of Portobello Amenity Society, in the near future and I will be hoping to persuade him that this would be an appropriate use of their funds and would provide an interesting 21st century counter-point to their commendable work in recent years in providing plaques to commemorate famous local residents of the past.

I just noticed that yesterday from Ocean Terminal. What is it? Offices, flats, both? It's getting like Benidorm without the sun down that way.

I'd heard of people dreaming their pillow was a marshmallow and waking up in mid-bite...but never knew M&S catered for it

Eating a pillow would be less nutritionally damaging than eating most of M&S's saturated fat, sugar and salt laden ready meals. Even a lot of their 'healthy' options fail to fully meet the Food Standard Agency guidelines. :)

I think you have a point there PoP, Ive spotted quite a lot of people that I suspect are pillow eaters and most of them look slim and healthy.
