I want to go Drinking

You ever have a day where all you want to do imbibe and shoot the s*** with some other people. Well I feel like that today, I have an urge for karaoke. Been asleep most of the afternoon and now Im up for a few beers. NYD is a funny one, no bars are open (are they?) and most people are doing family stuff. In a drunken haze last night I agreed that I would gatecrash Rose and Tommy's party, however Im not feeling so brave now.

Pal of Porty is up in Dundee so he is ruled out too.

Have you seen the weather outside? I'm going nowhere. I have a huge pot of fabulous lentil soup, a couple of bottles of bubbly, gin and malt whisky, a Ben Elton novel - more than enough to keep me happy. Get yourself round to R & T''s and wish them a HNY from the Jeffersons. Now, where's my Sofa Snuggler?

I stayed in and watched Tom Browns Schooldays, really enjoyed. Im going to take a couple of melatonin and sleep for at least 10 hrs.

Its "Losing My Religion" BTW.

Porty, you should have given us a shout to go and gatecrash. T & R's was a good do although unusually there was no singing. You might have got it going though. Maybe the next POL nite out should be karaoke.

Lets face it Bruce is not really a singer but if I was to choose one it would be secret garden or something off tunnel of love.

Funnily enough, I've just been listening to Everything But The Girl's Covers EP from 1992. Have you heard it? They do a great acoustic version of 'Tougher Than The Rest', along with Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' and Costello's 'Alison'.

Bob I never knew EBTG did a covers EP. I used to be really into EBTG, well before the remixed "Missing" which has to be one of the greatest dance songs ever.

I must go an Emule and see if I can locate the EP, thanks for that. BTW did you post audio clips, I cant see anything?

On the subject of great music. I have never really listenend to Nick Cave, although I have observed the esteem he is held in by many. Yesterday I heard a tune that I think was called Breathless from an album called Abbatoire Blues. It totally blew me away, I really have to get some of his stuff.

Moving briefly onto less than great music, I have performed Karaoke "Hungry Heart" on several occassioin. Pity I can no longer abide the song as its become too familiar.

My link is to a page on Amazon. If you scroll down you will find the clips. I'm also a big fan of EBTG from the early days. Extraordinary how they managed to cross over into dance music but I rate their later stuff as well. I'm sure you will love their version of 'Tougher..' if you haven't heard it before.
