Credit where it's due

Post by Mimpty » 21 Dec 2004, 14:36

Just wanted to praise a local store -

I bought my Christmas tree from Joppa Foodstores on Saturday. I had asked how heavy it was (not having a car) and the very nice shopkeeper said although he did not do deliveries, he would as I lived just along the road. And for no charge too. :)
However by the time I got it up the stairs my stomach had been scratched to bits and I had needle impaled in my hands...but the tree is fabby!

Which is exactly the type of service EVERY local trader would benefit from whether there is a supermarket built along the road or not. :)

The nice people at the mica hardware shop were happy to deliver some large pieces of wood to my house at no charge a couple of months ago.

Mica (Woodwares?) provide an excellent service, they are most helpful. Let's keep this thread going with other examples of good customer sevice in portobello.

And unlike many of their much larger rivals, there are plenty of knowledgeable staff on hand to give you advice and show you where everything is. 8)
