Band Aid 20

What do people think of the new version of "Do They Know Its Christmas" ?

I have heard it (in part) a couple of times now and it's growing on me but still prefer the original. Might change my mind after hearing it a few more times.

I haven't heard it yet so I am admirably placed to offer opinion (not):

Whatever it sounds like, it must be a 'good' thing, but it feels like in doing a remake rather than a new 'song for Sudan' its edging too close to the marketing side of pop life as oppposed to something that originally felt as though at least some of the participants cared and understood.

(If its true that Joss Stone turned up and didn't know who Bob Geldof is, what DID she think she was turning up for?)

Still, they've all achieved something more useful than I have for the Sudan so hurrah for all of them!

Highly likely that she didn't know who Geldof is.
99% of the kids I teach couldn't tell me earlier this year who Bob Geldof was and the remaining 1% had heard of him but weren't sure why!
Listened, this morning, to Fran from Travis explain how Midge Ure did a bit of 'phoning around of folk who then in turn 'phoned other numbers from their rather exclusive address books (or whatever rich folk use to store their numbers in these days). She probably didn't speak to St Bob.
If it raises awareness and cash once again it doesn't matter what it sounds like really I suppose.
New version has slightly faster beat and some rapping, but Bono still does his bit.......

Agreed - it's abysmal, as was the original version. It'll sell shedloads though.

Realised how old(er) I was getting when I didn't recognise any of the acts on TOTP........apart from when they introduced the album chart that is, seems old(er) people don't buy singles.
