I just discovered the Porty site today. I was brought up in the Portobello area in the 50s and have many fond memories of the town - I even remember the stushie when it became "Edinburgh 15"!
It was good to read through some of the articles with a smile as the memories came back. The feature by the ex-Policeman was really memory-stirring (although I did not have too many run-ins with him or his colleagues - apart perhaps, from that stone and a window, for which I now apologise). However, I was a bit disappointed to note that he wanted to stay anonymous. I have to ask, "why?" He was obviously proud of his time and has happy memories and I promise not to hurl a stone through his window. Share memories by all means, but why from behind a curtain?
Anonymous - why?

I'm sure the person in question has their reasons but I would have preferred to have been able to publish the author's name, since he/she deserves the credit for a fine piece of writing.
We are always looking for ideas for new articles and we would welcome submissions from anyone with an interest in Portobello past, present or future.
