interesting stuff - a belated thanks for that link.
portobello beach - killed by engineers in the support of commerce, and restored by engineers in support of the councils coffers. Interesting that the restoration of the beach for pleasure purposes is not mentioned as a factor in the planning at all.
I presume that the big storm of easter 2010(?) was the first one since the 70s to make any appreciable difference to the sand levels.
