Re: Creative Porty

I'd be interested in getting involved in something like this that's local to Portobello. We do screen printing and textiles under the name of Through the Trees. A Portobello Craft Co-operative sounds like a great idea. Here's a link to our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/throughthetreesdesign

Hi, I'd also be interested in finding out more about the fairs and the possibility of becoming a stall holder. It's a great idea, for a while now I've thought that something like this would go down really well in Portobello.

We're considering getting central heating installed - could anyone reccommend a local plumber? We do have British Gas coming round to give us a quote, but I'd kind of prefer to get a local tradesperson to do it which would hopefully work out cheaper than British Gas too. Any ideas? Thanks.

Dodgy Calls?

I just had a phone call from a company claiming to be offering free doors and windows in my postcode area. Now, everyone knows there's no such thing as a free lunch (or window) so I obviously said I wasn't interested. The guy was insistant and fairly rude too - when I asked where their company was b...

Hi there, we have a copy of the 3rd episode on DVD if you're still looking for it. Does anyone have a copy of the first episode? We'd really appreciate it if we could borrow a copy.

I saw some people putting the sign up the night before the Rebus filming was due to take place. I assumed they were part of the film crew and also thought the name sign must be for Rebus. But maybe they were the new proprieters? Who knows, hopefully we'll find out soon.

I've just tracked my missing parcel on the Royal Mail website and, no surprises, it says they tried to deliver it on the 22nd and left a card. Obviously they didn't leave a card so I'm just hoping it's still at the depot. Is the postal service in other areas in Edinburgh this bad? I'm wondering if i...

Pleased I'm not the only one .. a couple of months ago I'd absent mindedly left my ipod at my mum's so she sent it to me by special delivery. I waited in for it, it didn't arrive, then later that evening a guy who lives in the tenement next to mine came round with it. It had been delivered to the wr...

Here's a story about my lunch today ... Well I was really hungry, and in a bit of a hurry, so I popped into Boots for a 'Meal Deal'. I decided on a cheese salad baguette, a chocolate brownie and a smoothie. All for £2.99 - what a bargain. Or so I thought. I got back to the office, opened my baguett...

Hi everyone. I'm new to this so I thought this would be a nice first thread to reply to. Portobello's a good place to live. I love the beach, rain or shine, I love that when I was down there near Christmas time lots of people had written 'Merry Christmas' in the sand in a couple of different languag...
