thanks all. Me and the bump will be in Porty this weekend to empty my flat (or supervise at least).
Will give you a buzz and maybe meet for a camomile tea or splash out and have a half of guinness!

Bargain! Wonder if Burntisland Community Council would be interested in buying the package. :) Burntisland also has a golf course and no high school and no superstore (yet). It's like a kind of parallel universe I can wave to you from the other side and maybe get a hovercraft over on a nice day. Won...

Sorry for my lack of observational skills, thought the tank chairs were already in production. AND... when did you get to be a moderator Rapunzell! hmmmmm? :) The chairs with the all terrain wheels way back at the start of this thread are available though. Are other authorities hiring them out? Seem...

The first sandy beach in Scotland will be providing them this year - in Lerwick, Shetland! I called the contact number earlier today to check but there was no reply so I'll get back to them later. Wow! (They were probably all out playing on the new tank chair). Looks great. Could be stored at Edinb...

Cleopas I have a friend who does reflexology (accupressure without needles), I find it really good for general destressing and also specific pain relief. I don't know if you can get it on NHS yet, but might be worth asking. The Chinese have been doing it for huners o years so it can't be all mumbo j...

I've only lived in Porty for a couple of years.
To the best of my knowledge I've only met Rapunzell and BillyBob.
All that could be changed if someone would sell us a hoose in Porty so we weren't exiled in Leith anymore...

I lived on a farm for a while when I was wee. The cows used to be brought in to barns in the winter and fed turnips and silage (?) the smell was fairly unavoidable. Very festive!

non ironing...

where???????
The trick is to buy clothes with slightly stretchy material and hang them up on clothes hangers to dry.

(Or not. Just have the brass neck to wear clothes wrinkly and claim it's a fashion statement/the fabric is meant to be like that)

I whole heartedly agree with all of Dadaist's comments above and would like to add that irons are burny. Which is why I don't own either an ironing board or an iron.
Life's too short for ironing and bad wine.
I buy clothes that don't need to be ironed.

Are the baths and swim centre not run by Edinburgh Leisure (part of City of Edinburgh Council)? If so Alan McGregor should be able to approach them in an official capacity.

according to a reliable Largo source the mats were old conveyor belts from a coal mine. Kind of fabric weave with rubber and stapled together at the seams. I think this should definitely be in Portobello matters. I'm sure the council has an obligation to provide access for all, where possible, under the recent legislation.
