Dangerous driving
Just felt need to vent frustration: driving into Portobello from Joppa a wee while back I was undertaken by an idiot who was clearly in a rush to get stuck in the queue of traffic going through Porty! Question is: is it worth the hassle reporting him to the police or should I just put it down to an ...

yup, nasty indeed. When they were running up Bath Street one young lad who was running with a stick, so I have little sympathy, took one hell of a fall onto the road. Must have hurt like hell. Then he got thumped by an older guy also yielding a stick. Nice place we live. Nobody else up and about to ...

absolutely, best to be home safe. I saw some poor sods having to drive through it and 1 lone female keeping her head down trying to walk past them all to go home I guess. One remarkable lady across the road from us (not you was it?) went out and did her damndest to get the kids to drop the sticks an...

Trouble in Porty
Anyone seen the 30+ teens fighting down Bath Street a few minutes ago? very scary stuff. Verbal to start with I think, then 1/2 ran away but came back armed with bricks and sticks. Police here at last, but the teens have probably run away by now. Hate seeing that level of violence - what on earth co...

Susie There are cordless kettle tippers that are relatively new on the market. It could be that they are not yet available on the OT core list. If you type cordless kettle tippers into google you will find a selection, though will probably work out more expensive than if you were to buy a corded ket...

Hi Rapunzell thanks for the info. Any idea of a number to call or how much they cost? our last window cleaner seemed really cheap in comparison with other people that we have phoned up to ask (hence the very long delay in finding a window cleaner!). Desperation stage has hit now though, so guess we ...

Thanks for that Ed. I think I will start by looking at catteries that have been inspected by FAB charity or if that doesn't prove to be successful, will just have to start having to do the groundwork. Am not sure about a catsitter only because my cat loves company and at least if she is in a cattery...
Thanks for the link, I had stumbled upon that website, but I wasn't sure if she covered Portobello area. Am just gathering information just now, we won't be needing a cattery/catsitter for a while, but just want to be prepared. Any idea how much a catsitter costs? From surfing the net it seems that ...

Hi all
Can anyone recommend a good local cattery? Particularly one suited to an indoor cat?

Road map
Hi
Can anyone recommend anywhere locally that I can buy a street atlas/road map of East lothian? I need to get one quite urgently for work, and want to avoid having to go into town if possible (vicious xmas shoppers!)
Thanks

hi Izzie Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time of it at the mo, I know that dealing with a child with disabilities is incredibly hard work. I agree with Rapunzell and her advice. I would say the first port of call is getting a social worker, who could advise you on where you could get respit...

Portobello High street has a lane closed for the runners Gizmo and one lane open for two way traffic which gets through in staggered stages, with long queues building up, so leave yourself lots of time. Thanks! At least there are buses going through Porty. Was beginning to envisage having to haul s...

Thanks for the reminder Marya. Had forgotten all about it. I guess it is going to cause us great problems trying to get the bus to the airport........ typical!! Had a look at the route map, and not sure if buses will be able to get along Portobello High street or not? Will need to give Lothian buses...
