Re: Visit Portobello (and let your dog shit everywhere)
What kind of deformed beasties are pooing on the prom? That creature looks more like an unfortunate horse than a dog... But on a serious note - jolly good idea - would be better if it was backed up by a "bag it and bin it" message, although not sure how that could easily be communicated by an ...

Re: Community Choir in Portobello
What a pity they have chosen the same night as Sing in the City in Fisherrow Community Centre, which has only been going for 3 weeks is already up to over 40 members. A different night could mean a lot more people going to the Porty one too.

Re: Visit Portobello (and let your dog shit everywhere)
StarVanMan If you have your dog on a lead, then it's easy to know where and when it has pooed. And if your dog is off lead and if it is so dark you can't see the poo, then it's a fair chance you can't see your dog either - which is kind of dangerous! Like people, dogs vary, but they don't poo every ...

Re: Visit Portobello (and let your dog shit everywhere)
I think the "picking up poo" community service option is the best one. Fresh poo is okay to deal with - but old poo is vile!

Re: Visit Portobello (and let your dog shit everywhere)
Any dog, no matter how well-trained or not is a potential risk - especially to children. You cannot guarantee that your dog will not react to a situation where it gets over-excited, or feels threatened or even is hurt by biting. There is every reason to keep a dog on a lead in public places, which i...

Re: Visit Portobello (and let your dog shit everywhere)
I have a small, very friendly dog that children are drawn to like filings to a magnet - always wanting to clap him. He's always on a lead, because I don't want to take the risk of something happening - both dogs and children are unpredictable. As for picking up poo - it's no big deal for the owner, ...

Surely any self-respecting bloke makes his bird do all the cleaning and cooking? And the washing too. Just like his Mum did for him. Why waste good boozing time?Pal of Porty wrote:Nah that's rubbish Seashell. When a bird get's married she uses the guy's name (and does a wee bit cleaning)!

Re: Planning Democracy (Scottish Charity SC041051)
Unless this is a coincidence - this would mean that the person coming to speak to the PCC on Planning Democracy, wrote to the EEN about PHS on the park under a different name! Just as well they did not call themselves Planning Transparency. 8) Just to clarify - in Scotland a married woman never los...
Re: FOI
It all sounds like spoiler tactics by DC and SH - nothing more. And you called their bluff, Porty. Which from all accounts they weren't bothered by in the slightest. There were a lot of people out on the High Street on Saturday, giving up their own time to try to distribute factual information and g...

NO Scoop - I said I wanted to meet them and I was sorry I'd missed them. I would dearly love to have a little chat with them. I'm sure it would be very interesting.
You are merely making mischief (yes, you are consistent) and I'm not rising to the bait.
Cheery bye and have a nice evening my dear.

Re: New Portobello High School - Private Bill Porty Park
Oh dear Scoop, your comprehension skills are letting you down once again. I said I would like to meet DC and SH, not that I had any desire to witness a confrontation. Bit of wish-fulfillment on your part, perhaps? In my book, one time-wasting FOI enquiry is one too many. We know from the evidence th...

Re: New Portobello High School - Private Bill Porty Park
Oh, what a pity I missed that. I would so love to meet the dynamic duo. How interesting that they see this type of manoeuvre as the most constructive use of their time. Still, I suppose it might stop DC wasting time and money by writing yet another FOI request to the council, which can only benefit ...

Re: New Portobello High School - Private Bill Porty Park
Out on the High Street this morning, encouraging people to take part in the consultation. Really encouraging to see how many people are in support of a new PHS on the Park. And lovely to meet online friends in person. If you haven't already taken part - come along and have your say. Or go online. Re...
Re: FOI
If you have ever had your working day totally disrupted by having to do an FOI enquiry, and have already dealt with so many by the same person that you actually know their address off the top of your head (and have maybe even had the joy of speaking to them on the telephone) then you'll know just ho...
Re: New Portobello High School - Private Bill Porty Park
It would interesting to know how may FOI requests have been generated from the same small group of people and what the actual monetary cost incurred has been . Re: New Portobello High School - Private Bill Porty Park
The worrying thing is that FOI requests cost the Council a lot of time and money. Looking at the Council's response to DC (available on Andy Wightman's website) it's basically been a complete waste of time and money: She's told that some of the information she wants is freely available on the intern...
Re: New Portobello High School - Private Bill Porty Park
I'm sure the council will have a copy (or indeed the original) of DC's request that can sort all this out. But to be fair, DC assured Seanie she wrote as a private individual.
FOI
admin: split from New Portobello High School - Private Bill Porty Park.
Any word yet from the council as to why the FOI enquiry was sent to DC at PCC, rather than as a private individual?

How extrordinary.
In my experience, you respond to the details provided by the person requesting the information under FOI.
It will be good to hear more from the Council about what happened.

Re: Portobello Community Council
Given PCC's undemocratic approach towards planning matters, isn't it a little worrying to see who the high-heid yins of Planning Democracy are? it doesn't exactly fill one with confidence. Unless, of course, you use "democracy" to mean "I know better that the masses". Unwashed or otherwise.

The sort of tactics they employ can often back-fire, as I'm sure you know, lg. After all, their reputations preceed them. They may even be regarded in some circles as a two-person protest against any sort of progress, in which case all the matey glances or sheafs of paper aren't going to make a whit...

Sceptic - the nice thing about your slogan is that it could be multi-purpose.
For example, why not settle the whole sorry affair by an amateur boxing competion, the residents of Park Avenue against all-comers - Just "Put It Up" in the Park.

Re: Woodwares closing / Sainsburys coming to Portobello
Excent points, Rosa. But of course you are applying logic to the topic. Something that is sadly lacking from the mindset of those who believe the undersized, polluted, undermined by clay-pit site at Baileyfield is nevertheless an ideal site for a school. "Ideal" in this instance means it is nowhere ...
