Is it stv or some other proportional representation? Or just cast a vote and add them up?

Re: Portobello Community Council
just looking through this thread, and I wonder what happens if/when the local interest groups are reduced to 7, and there needs to be a choice between the 12 registered groups?
Do we have a quiz night? A second election question? Council decides?

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
Thus, if I were the Council, I'd be wanting to review the evidence for CG again and, if there's the slightest possibility it might not be, finding out whether it's possible to "un-concede" and let the Supreme Court decide? From a laymans perspective, I would suggest that 'un-conceding' is surely an...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
Thanks Marya, I had read the text above, and just wondered when the golf course changed the origional park, and it seems without full backing of locals, at that time did it's status change. the whole of this tragic farce seems to hinge around the Common Good status of the land, a status that CEC de...

I should say so!neilking wrote:
That report of January 2008 and decision of counsel referred to there seem to me to be fairly crucial documents.
No shame left in being wrong about the common good status in January 2008, if being wrong means that work can proceed.

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
Did people think the Council were clearly wrong when Lady Dorrian agreed with them? They weren't wrong then, but another lot seem to have said that they are. Which they made fairly clear. And would all this go away as an issue if indeed the land is NOT common good land, but just a chunk of land own...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
I think the council were clearly wrong then to think it made no difference if the land is common good, as the court (or one bit of it) seems to think it does. I'll have to have a look more closely at andywitemans reasoning to understand why it wouldn't be clever to get it clear as to whether it is o...

Re: New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal
The problem is not the Primo (which was rendered meaningless by Section 17 of the Abolition of Feudal Tenure (Scotland) Act 2000) but the fact that the Council has conceded that the park is inalienable common good which means (as decided by yesterday's court decision) that, while the Council could ...

Re: Edinburgh Council Election 2012: Portobello/Craigmillar
as a slight aside, I see from the Lothian results in the Evening News that 8 or 9 wards across the region have councillors elected as a result of the STV process (assuming that both the EN and I are correct in our own readings of the bits of info available. Not a strong bet to be recommended). And ...

And a proper public briefing on how to use your preferences in a preventive manner.
Congrats to MC and Mr B. Surprised at it going to the 6thcasting of the runes. Wonder if that's 'usual'?

I get the feeling this may be the straw that breaks the camels back, parents have had enough of this now, myself included. tip one: keep tight hold of the childer when scrambling around the Sagrada Familia. I've been up it twice and each time I've been convinced I am going to fall out of the thing - I've never before seen such a 'thin' stone building, with such big spaces available to the casual visitor to walk through!

You seem very annoyed at the council/education department. As far as I can see they have made an introduction to non-curricular learning/support service, that's all they've done. They didn't pass over a single name and address. They did however use the trust between school / parents / teachers and ...
